Review summary

We booked our cruise - Carnival Paradise; for a short 4 night junket from Long Beach to Ensenada. Since we are not big cruise enthusiasts we had moderate expectations. We picked it because we wanted something to give our older family member for his 8th birthday. We were pleasantly surprised. The accommodations were comfortable, the shows were very good and the nightly dining room food was very good as was the service. We got an additional pleasant surprise as we had a group of Santa Clauses on our ship. There were about 36 of them and it made it fun. Since we live in Orange County we did not have to fly anywhere either. It worked our very well and we would recommend it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Didn't just love the buffett rounds. For the most part food too fatty overall but liked everything else.

All of the staff went out of their way to be polite and attentive.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean and nice, We enjoyed the lounges music and we enjoyed the coffee bar

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Comfortable bed and ;bedding. The only negative is they took our robes the last night so having packed we had nothing to put on for comfort.

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

3 out of 5
We spent only a few hours walking and made a couple of miner purchases. We ate the restaurant attached to the Best Western. It was very clean, the food was great as were the Margaritas.

Catalina Island, California

3 out of 5
We know Catalina having stayed at the Inn at Mt Ada many times. I forget the name of the French like place it is on a corner, it is immaculate, the play music, have a wine vault, wonderful coffees, sandwiches and sweets as well as nice quality gift items The submarine wildlife boat is great especially for children.

Pros: It was fun, no pressure, short. We took a family member to celebrate ;his 86th

Cons: The Paris buffett rounds. Food very fatty over all
