Review summary

Overall good cruise. We had been promising our grandson a cruise since about the time covid arrived. Had 3 cancelations before making it on this one. We celebrated his 15th birthday on this cruise. We didn't partake in many activities. Just wanted to relax and play in the pool, even though weather was cool. Grandson loved the pizza and cheeseburger from Guy's. Ship's staff were great and liked to engage in conversation when not too busy.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Sunburn while waiting to board. We were boarded about an hour later than requested time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Wait staff were great upon arrival then seemed to forget us. Long wait between finishing meal and receiving desert.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Only went to one show. First time Platinum so attended the VIFP party. No big deal there other than free drinks :) The pools were not overly crowded. The hot tubs were crowded at times but we never use them so not a problem for us.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There were "technical difficulties" for the show we attended, previous show had been cancelled while they tried to fix the problem. Instead of full production we were presented with song and dance with no set or costume changes.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Indran, was fantistic and fun to speak with. Filled the ice bucket twice a day for us. Overall the staff was super throughout the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Continual cleaning. Ship is very easy to find where you need to go.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean with good view from balcony. I heard that new lamps were going to installed while in drydock with USB charging ports. Not confirmed.

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Shuttle into town for shopping. More ceramics for the yard.

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
We grabbed a taxi to the zoo.. Cost was about $14 plus tip each way. Enjoyed a cart tour and walking around zoo.

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
I rated 4 due to parking availability. No cruise parking at all. Dependant mostly on privately owned parking lots. Parking 5 blocks away was $25 a day for our full sized SUV.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Was a lot smoother than embarkation.

@cruisingismyjam...Yes she is older but still a nice ship. Honestly, out of 9 Carnival cruises I've been on, 8 of them have been on the Miracle so I might be prejudiced. I can only compare to one cruise on Splendor. I'm not a picky person, having said that I think overall the food in dining room and buffet are good. My wife likes the lobster roll from the Seafood Corner, the fish & chips are pretty good too ($$$). Then there's the Blue Iguana and Guy's Burgers which are both good. The sandwich grill is another good alternative. I haven't tried the steak house. I have ordered the steak & lobster from there in the dining room ($23) and it was very good. Lots of options. We will be on the Alaska cruise just before your Hawaii trip. We can wave in passing! We've been to Hawaii twice on the Miracle. Looking forward to March cruise next year to see what improved while in drydock. New paint for sure, hopefully fix the thruster problem and lose the need for tugboat during docking. Relax and enjoy the cruise.

We’re going on the Miracle in Sept to Hawaii . How’d you like the ship ?? I’ve heard it’s older and the food isn’t anything special . Hope we enjoy since we’ll be on it for 2 wks .

I parked at the Anchorage Plaza, 500 Beach St. It was one of the links from the Carnival web site. I had considered the one you mentioned. But was concerned about vehicle height. I was driving a Nissan Armada. The Anchorage sign had a 7 foot height limit. 6'5" was just too close. I think my Armada is listed as 6'4.3" It is a bit of a walk, probably grab a ride next time. @auntpinkie, yes we did take advantage of free laundry and pins. Forgot to order chocolates though. One last note, I tested positive for covid 2 days after cruise. Only minor symptoms so far. The doc prescribed Paxlovid. The other 3 in my party tested negative. So hopefully it stops with me. Sitting in isolation.

Hope you collected your other Platinum perks: ship’s pin, bottle of water, $25 in the casino. Appreciate your feedback!

Thanks for the review of the Miracle. We too love the Gatsby Garden.

Can you share the name or street you parked at? I know there is one at 80 Francisco st. It would be nice to know an alternative as I have Chevy Tahoe.
