We love cruises. We chose this cruise for the price. You get what you pay for. We made the most of it, but being on the ship was not the best part of our trip. To improve this ship, possibly the entire line, the staff must be advised to make sure that every guest feels welcome and appreciated. Other cruise lines remind passengers that they realize that for many people the cruise is an event (no matter how long) and that people save and spend hard earned money for this time. They tell this to you, they also tell you that because of this, it is their responsibility to make everyone feel that they have spent their money well and that they have been served. First Class Service at all times.
This was a discounted cruise and everything about it was discounted, Carnival should do a much better job. We probably will never take another Carnival Cruise, and as I stated, we love to cruise.
Our traveling party is 2 couples. (not an option below)
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Arrival and embarkation were quick and easy, would total leave from Long Beach again
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food was marginal. There were minimal options, the food was cold, the fruit selection was minimal. The Guy Fiere burgers and the pizza oven were the best, tasty and hot. I am a foodie so when burgers and pizza are my favs....just sayin
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The pools were not blue/clean. (one was closed one day) The onboard activities on At Sea Day were horrible.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
were there shows??
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room steward was FANTASTIC!! He knew us by name, our room was kept impeccably and all of our requests were met. The rest of the staff made no attempt to assure our satisfaction. They minimally did their jobs and did not interact or work to build relationships or desire to assist us to have a remarkable trip
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The ship is small and old. Allegedly "refurbished", it was difficult to see any improvements. The decks were dirty, no attention to nooks and crannies. The ship felt crowded especially for the dining both restaurant and buffets.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The room, as with the rest of ship, felt old and dated. the bathroom was especially dated. The toilet was disgusting, has it ever been changed??? Stained so badly the bowl water appeared yellow at all times. The water pressure was not remarkable. Everything in the room did work, but having only one outlet for the entire room was a terrible problem in the 21st century era of electronics, etc. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the towels were decent but we were only left one bar of soap over the 4 days on board.
The TV is too small and the channel selection was pitiful.
Ship tip
Don't!! Choose a newer, better ship. This one has seen it's day.
For any cruise ship, buy a European type C converter/adapter to get an extra outlet. Just be sure your device is 110-240 vac and 50-60 hz. Most phone/tablets and laptops are. Most will pack a 3 way extension as well.
Thanks for the review I have enjoyed 20 cruises and have never experienced what you state about other cruise lines. I believe carnival is a good value, but like all cruise lines is struggling to meet the standards of pre Covid
There is more excitement for the larger ships and maybe the better employees are placed there. I cannot see your Cruise history but if we need anything daily in the cabin, ie. soap, ice, extra towels, etc. Handing off a quick $5 or $10 gets their attention and much better service.
Probably best to try a new cruise line. Happy Sailing!
