Review summary

Not recommended for families with children. A very "old" cruise with only a handful of children on board. Good cruise for seniors.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest embarkation ever.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ship/dining areas needs an update. Going into drydock soon.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Nice fitness center. Pools were nice.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Show were OK, but only 1-show per night. Early diners had to wait 2+ hours to see a show. Most cruises have 2-shows per night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very nice staff.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very easy ship to "get around." Much nicer than other Carnival ships we have taken.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Would be excellent, except we got oil ash on our clothes and skin. Carnival burns a heavy diesel oil at night that produces ash. (light diesel during the day.) The ash can settle on the rear balconies. Great balcony during the day, but be aware at night.

Ship tip

Rear balconies can be very hot in the tropics.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

4 out of 5

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

2 out of 5
A very poor town with few amenities. We just wanted to explore the port, but returned to the ship within 1-hour. Really just a poor "flea-market." Take an excursion if you get off the ship.

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

5 out of 5
Amazing 100-year old technology.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Good beaches.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Only 2-Customs agents delayed the disembarkation. Took quite a bit longer than expecter. Not Carnival's fault..

I have taken my two young children on the Miracle twice. They love the kids club. We usually travel in the off season (as you did), which means less children. I think it’s nicer for children when it isn’t crowded in the kids club.
