Review summary

Out of all the cruises I had taken (7 - Inspiration, Ectasy, and several other ships) I would rate this one the lowest. The Magic, while a beautiful ship, seemed much more crowded than the others, and the food was not as good (except for Guy’s).

Embarkation

4 out of 5
As always it was quite simple and easy, although on past cruises we were able to change rooms assignments prior to boarding. It was easy enough onboard, but just something we were hoping to get done earlier.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The service was good, but the food was not as good as previous cruises.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Comedy shows, musical shows, Clue, Club O2, ice carving, etc

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Very good

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our youngest son enjoyed Club O2 very much.the

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service was as good as other cruises, which is excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship design is functional, but I think too big. The lines for certain food items on the Lido deck seemed much longer than previous cruises. Both of “Guys” restaurants were great, and the food there far better than the buffets.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean and in good condition. Loved the balcony. The noise from the moving of deck chairs and tables was significant, at ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. We had read about this and brought it to the attention of our best booking agent, who insisted it wouldn’t be an issue. Well it was an issue.

Ship tip

I would not recommend the ship. We had much better experiences on smaller Carnival ships.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and efficient.

What balcony room did you have?

Curious. With cruises usually sold out and so many of us picking our rooms ahead of time, how/why do you always change your room when you get there?

I knew it was a big ship when we booked but hope it won't be overwhelming. Our 7 year old is looking forward to the club. Our last cruise on the ecstacy was very accommodating with his special needs.
