Review summary

This was our 12th Carnival cruise (16th total). We brought our 4 year old twins with us this time. We stayed on deck 12 in a spa balcony cabin. The room was fantastic and spa amenities/VIP access were worth the additional cost of the room. We had plenty of room and storage and the mini fridge was a huge PLUS!! We ate in the MD 4 nights, the Italian and Steakhouse one night and room service one night. The Steakhouse and Italian restaurants were outstanding. We had anytime dining, which was very convenient for our kids. Camp Ocean was awesome. We had to get used to the schedule so I recommend showing up about 5/10 minutes earlier than the times on schedule as the kids missed a couple of things they wanted to do. Dr. Suess breakfast was fantastic as was the build-a-bear workshop. My twins were on the morning show with Dr. E and won a free bear (yahoo!!) The cruise director was the best we've seen. I will miss his wake up songs and smile. The ports were great-Amber Cove, we went to the pool right off the port. It was free, lots of chairs (umbrellas were extra), and had a full restaurant and swim up bar. There was a splash pad for smaller kids. We ate lunch and spent about $30. St. Thomas, gorgeous, but it rained the entire day. We went to Coki Beach and do not recommend it. It was $18 each way for two people on taxi, $20 for broken chairs and an umbrella, and the beach was just ok. My husband enjoyed the snorkeling here though. If you enjoy high end shopping this is for you! I bought something from Louis Vuitton and saved the taxes. San Juan-our favorite port on this trip. We spent $21 each way on a taxi to Isla Verde beach. It was absolutely stunning. Chairs and an umbrella were $20 for the day. There was a small restaurant and restrooms close by. It was a perfect day. We walked around Old San Juan before returning the ship. Grand Turk, the water here was stunning. So many shades of blue and green water. We walked off the port and over to the beach. The side we went to had free chairs and clam shells, but the beach was so rocky we didn't get in the water. There was one part where the rocks weren't bad but we decided to head to Margaritaville. It's always fun there. There is a DJ and swim up bar. The smooth cruisers made it way more fun, so thank you if you're reading this review! I had 3 treatments in the spa, all amazing! Ask for Kim to do a fire and ice pedicure and ask for Katie to do your bamboo massage. Overall, we enjoyed our vacation. We would return to the Magic as it was one of our favorite itineraries and ships.
