Review summary

We took the 12 days Barcelona-Barcelona cruise. The itinerary was perfect, the places we visited (although we live in Europe and already seen many) were excellent. Carnival was flexible when boarding (we boarded around 11 am) but had to leave the ship by 8 am which is quite early.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The variety of dining options was excellent surpassing that for smaller ships. The quality of the food did not seem to improve from earlier experience. We tried the Italian dining room (for a fee at Captains table) and found it enjoyable. Lido deck food was average. Some food sold for a fee could have been free.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We found that for the number of guests on the ship, the number of evening programs was a little weak. Shows were far apart and had only one repeat. Variety of live music was excellent and people seemed to enjoy it. Casino is larger than average, lots of machines and tables and was very popular. As a non smoker we found the number of non-smoking days to be too few. We took several tours, they were well organized, but slightly expensive. Guides spoke good English and knew their destinations.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Staff was very nice and friendly, especially stateroom stewards. We did not need help at Lido restaurant and none was offered either. Other restaurant staff was very efficient and service oriented. Redfrog Pub was especially friendly, and the beer excellent. The ambience seemed more relaxed than on the Caribbean which was closer to our taste.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is very big, but the layout and the variety of features especially related to eating, drinking and listening to music is amazing. Being a new ship (a couple of months old) everything worked fine, was clean, new and likeable. The decor of the ship is more to the European tastes, less vivid and flashy, with significantly more taste. Some new deck furniture was almost luxurious and very popular. We found the number and location of the toilettes a little uncomfortabl

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were surprised as we had a larger than usual stateroom on the deck 2, it had 2 bathrooms and unusually large, 4 piece cupboard out of which 3 had hangers. The beds were perfect, amenities fine and the condition is brand new. We were close to the aft elevator (which only took us to Deck 3 restaurant but not to Ocean plaza.
