I don't think I'll book another Carnival cruise. The food and food service was low quality, and the room was too hot and loud. I unfortunately got what I paid for.

Embarkation was quick and easy.

Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Steak in the main dining room was overcooked, Bernaise sauce was served as an obviously broken emulsion. Our waiter could not have been less concerned. The appetizer portions were almost laughably small. The shrimp cocktail consisted of 4 or 5 of the tiniest shrimp I'd ever seen. The calamari appetizer came with only three or four pieces. The main dining room is definitely not worth the time given the quality of the food and service. The buffets were OK.
Onboard Activities

Children's Programs
Our children didn't use the service.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The service from our room steward was excellent. The waiters in the main dining room were hit or miss. The service was often slow and they didn't seem to care if food was prepared incorrectly. There was certainly no offer to replace food that was overcooked. The buffet food at the private island was absolutely swarming with flies. I suggest going back to the ship for lunch if possible.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was very clean and our room steward Christopher was fabulous! We did find the air conditioning to be inadequate, however. Most nights were uncomfortably warm.
Ship tip
I suggest families who would prefer a full night sleep to choose a cabin in the aft of the ship. The forward section is quite noisy until late in the evening due to the shows and other performances. The interior of the ship is completely open from the third floor up which allows sound to travel from the various shows and performances that take place at night.
We enjoyed the Dolphin experience at the Blue Lagoon. The staff were very professional and the experience of swimming with the dolphins was worth every penny.
Princess Cays is a very nice island with beautiful beaches and warm clear water. The lunch served by the cruiseline was covered with flies. Perhaps they could move the buffets into an indoor venue, or employ some other methods to prevent flies from covering the food in the buffet.

Carnival Liberty is an old ship that honestly needs to be refurbished. Interior is pretty but outside areas are beat up. Unfortunately short cruises to the Bahamas on older ships are not always the best. I wouldn’t give up on Carnival. Try one of the newer larger ships.
