We were excited for the cruise, as we have taken one every year almost. This cruise was the worst by far. We didn't enjoy any of the activities on board so we stayed on the smoking deck or in our room. The food wasn't good and wasn't pescatarian friendly. The island wasn't fun. It was just not for us.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
The people were rude from the time we stepped out the car to the ship
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
There wasn't a good variety of food. What was available was over cooked.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
There wasn't a huge variety of activities. We stayed on the smoking deck for most of the trip due to lack of interesting activities.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
We didn't find any shows interesting, so we didn't watch any.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
The teenager loved Camp O2, made some friends, and enjoyed the activities.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room was cleaned daily, the waiters were hard to track down and took forever to get your drinks. Some ship personnel was rude and sent you in the wrong direction when asking for directions.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The design was hard to navigate, having a lot of people lost most of the time. It was ok, but not thoroughly cleaned nightly and the lower floors smelled of sea water/sewage.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was a bit small for four people. We made it work though. The steward did a good job of keeping it clean and provided towel animals which we enjoyed.
Ship tip
Only book Carnival if you are a partier. It's not a quiet relaxing ship.
We weren't aware of the free beach/paid beach option. The shuttle drops you off at the location that you have to pay for after taking you all over the island. We could have walked to the free beach location and enjoyed ourselves more instead of waiting most of the time on the shuttle.
@cruisent there’s a point system for how much you comment, so I think that’s why they do that? I don’t know if you actually get perks for being a “higher rank” with the app… you can see your rank under your profile. Agree - it’s odd
Whatever cruise line you travel on, if you do some research on the ports before booking/ arriving you can maximize the chances of choosing the right cruise and experience for you instead of complaining about your experience after the cruise. Make the most of your cruise, it’s your choice.
Is it some kind of backhanded insult when people reply to a negative review with just "thanks for sharing"? I mean, why bother replying to the review if that's all you're going to say because it contributes absolutely nothing. I see it all the time here by the same people and just find it very odd.
I would say thanks for sharing, but I cannot honestly do that. First, the folks you encounter at the port BEFORE actually boarding are mostly not ship people. They work for the port. I also have to shake my head at the thought of spending most of a cruise in the smoking area on the ship. Yuk! A cruise is what you make it! Sorry you had such a bad cruise. 🤷🏼♂️
Appreciate your detailed feedback. With no other cruises listed it is hard to take your complaints seriously. I know for sure Carnival has fish on every menu and vegetarian options as well. Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean it wasn’t available. Sorry you were disappointed.
Short cruises are often known as booze cruises. They are cheap and make for a quick get away. If you’re looking for a cruise that has more to do and more time to relax, book 6,7,8 days or more. Also, not every ship is equipped the same. Look them over closely and book a ship that fits you. Should you choose to cruise again, I hope your next is better. Happy Sails 🛳️🏝️
