We are normally Royal Caribbean ship sailors. I hadn't done a Carnival cruise in quite some time. The old ship, plus the rudeness of the restaurant bus boy, plus very few areas to buy things on the ship made us realize just how much we missed Royal Caribbean. I'm sure many people enjoyed this Carnival Cruise but it may be because they don't know or haven't experienced other cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, etc.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was fast and organized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food, especially in the formal Dining room was subpar. Tiny portions and not as tasty as prior cruises
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Good on-board activities but the pools were always filled with people and the water was very cloudy so we opted not to get into them. The waterslide was fun but the water flow was poor.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Good entertainment but could have been better.
Children's Programs
No children accompanied me.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our Cabin steward was awesome. The bus boy in the buffet area of the Lido deck was rude and unfriendly.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Clean common areas, however, this was an older ship that felt a little dingy and in need of an upgrade.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The twin beds were comfortable but since there were 3 of us, I slept on the soft which was hard and extremely uncomfortable. Upon informing the cabin steward, he placed extra padding on the sofa bed, but still very uncomfortable. It made my whole body achy. I was so happy to get back home and get in my own bed.
Ship tip
If you're okay with old and dingy, you'll like the Carnival Liberty. It was clean and well-kept but sorely in need of upgrading.
I've been to Nassau many times. They have done some upgrading by installing new venues near where the ships dock. This is convenient but the scammers abound! Everywhere, there is someone trying to scam visitors. I stayed very close to the ship and allowed my granddaughter and her friend to go outside of the venues. They reported the same thing - Scammers! I am not fond of Nassau.
Nice island but we couldn't do any of the activities as it was a total rain wash-out. So, we ate lunch there and took shelter under the canopies. Rain, Lightning, and Thunder the entire time we were at Princess Cays.
I don't understand why there had to be 2 lines to disembark; one for Passport holders, and one for Birth Certificate holders. They really didn't even look at our passports, but scanned our Sail and Sign card. The whole process too much too long!!
Appreciate your detailed feedback. That’s the beauty of the cruising industry, there’s a cruise line that fits everyone’s needs. Sorry you were disappointed.
Royal Caribbean was my 1st cruise in 2005, and I've also done one with Norwegian, and I have 15 with Carnival, but I like them all. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
I agree with you that Royal Caribbean is better. I have sailed on Carnival a few times and enjoyed the cruises but their reputation as a party boat has gotten out of hand. Too many people getting drunk and unruly. Glad you had a good cruise except for the weather.
