This was a quick, last minute getaway to celebrate our son's birthday (at a reasonable cost). There are plenty of cruise lines to choose from, but we went with Carnival because it was within our budget. The kids had a blast, eating pizza at Pirate Pete's often. Us adults also had a good time, as the entertainment onboard is more geared for adults vs. kids. We made it work, and the comedians were the icing on the cake.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Seamless experience - arrived at the Port and had a minimum wait to get on board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We only went to the main dining room once. And that was enough. The staff seemed overwhelmed and the options on the menu were ok, except that the food arrived cold for all of us.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The kids had a great time on the one waterslide available, and the pool. They also enjoyed the arcade but watch your wallet! You can spend more than intended very quickly. I didn't get a chance to go to the fitness center as the hours of operation didn't fit into our family's schedule. (Wish it were 24 hours)
Entertainment
3 out of 5
It was okay. We enjoyed the steel drum player a lot, but outside of that it could be improved upon.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Overall the personal was friendly; however, there were several that were not as polite as they could be. Sounds like they also had food shortages because there were plenty of times the staff wouldn't give much (for example, bacon was stingy. Only 2 pieces per plate and they wouldn't allow you any more).
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I do want to say, the ship had a horrible smell on Deck 1 in the hallways. It smelled like waste. Not sure if they had an issue with their plumbing, or however they handle it - but you really had to hold your breath to walk through those hallways and get to your cabin. Luckily, the smell stayed in the hallway.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It served it's purpose. We really didn't spend too much time in our cabin, except to sleep.
