Excellent bargain cruise. Paid $175 per person. Would definitely do again. Didn’t have much expectations for this one after a lackluster cruise on the Magic back in May, I couldn’t pass it up because of the price. One of my top 3 cruises. The only issues I had was ww3 breaking out in the cabin next to ours at 5 am. Security dealt with it in less than a minute. Also I would appreciate it if Carnival banned thong swimsuits. It’s offensive and disgusting and is an issue that seems to be getting worse. Might be acceptable for an adults only cruise but there are children here that do not need to be exposed to this.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Got to the terminal at 11:15. Was on board by 11:45. My boarding time wasn’t supposed to be until 12.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Excellent food. Very few things I didn’t like. Didn’t try the buffet or the specialty restaurants. Guy’s burgers were great as usual. Loved breakfast at Blue Iguana. Cubano Mixto at the deli was wonderful as was the buffalo chicken sandwich. Also liked the bbq place and pizza pirate.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
This ship has 3 pools and 7 large hot tubs which is nice for a midsize ship with less than 3000 people. Also has the original water slide which I prefer over the new ones. On the downside the jogging track was closed for renovation the entire cruise.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was hit or miss. Not a fan of Carnival replacing the Reggae band with a steel drum player playing along to prerecorded music. MarQ is an excellent cruise director and the highlight of the cruise was the 90s music trivia he did on the last night.
Children's Programs
2 out of 5
I didn’t find this ship to be very family friendly. Not much for kids to do. Ship needs a family pool area with a splash pad. I think the pool on the back of the ship that is currently adults only would be great for this. I didn’t bring my kids on this cruise so I don’t know how the organized kids activities are.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service was great for the most part. Only complaint was some of the waiters in the main dining room are difficult to understand. We did have an incident where we had to contact security at 5 in the morning due to our neighbors having a fist fight in their cabin. Security responded in less than a minute and neutralized the situation.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Overall the ship was in good condition. Staff was constantly painting areas around the ship. I love the design of this ship. Much better than the Magic we were on last May. We did notice the sewer smell that I’ve heard people complaining about.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
It was ok. Could use a remodel. Toilet wouldn’t flush sometimes, shower head and hose need replacement, and wallpaper on walls is peeling off in places. A section had been replaced with some that didn’t match.
Ship tip
Go outside on deck 3 if you want a nice peaceful quiet place.
Not much to do unless you have an excursion. Shopping in the port area is better than Nassau though the selection is limited. Employees are very low pressure and friendly. Probably the best I’ve seen on a cruise. Spent most of the day on the ship. It was cool to see the Carnival Sensation in dry dock.
