Review summary

I’ve been on approximately 18 cruises and this was definitely one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Not interested was the ship not kept up. Beginning with the mustard drill, where we were all shoved into a small space outside on one of the lower decks. The smell of sewage was so strong it was barely tolerable. As far as our room, the balcony was rusting, rooms were smaller than average. The pool was gross and felt dirty. In fact, my kids had gone swimming with my husband and when they returned to the cabin there was a distinct smell. It turned out to be their swimming shorts from the disgusting pool. Also, the overall vibe of the ship was different than what I’m accustomed to. I felt more like I was vacationing in a frat house. Guests were allowed to dine in the dining room in cut off tank tops, basketball shorts, tennis shoes, etc. The cruise director sounded more like a radio DJ than any cruise director I’ve encountered before. Most of the crew we encountered were great, but that’s about it. This will be my last Carnival cruise and possibly my last 4-night cruise as well.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Not bad considering the crowd, we got through relatively quickly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Just average at best. Myself and several family members had the unlimited soda package, except it would take forever to get a soda because the only place you could get one was at a bar aside from the dining rooms. And if the bartenders knew you just wanted soda, you were definitely last to be served

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Pools and pool deck were gross, dirty and unkempt

Entertainment

1 out of 5
First time out of 18 cruises that not a single show appealed to me.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
It was easy to sign up the kids for this service but we did not end up using it There was an arcade room that my boys enjoyed

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters were great, as was our room steward. My only issue there is that my diamond necklace went missing during the cruise

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Horrible layout, and ship was not kept clean. It’s nearly impossible to get from one end of the ship to the other without having to go through a casino or lounge. Missing a central promenade typically found in most ships. Age of the boat was obvious.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The cabins are small, even for a balcony room. We barely used our balcony because it was rusted and felt dirty.

Ship tip

Good luck

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We enjoyed cabbage beach, although my son was stung by a jelly fish. He recovered quickly and was back in the water within a half hour

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Most areas were difficult to swim, especially with children because the beaches were quite rocky

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Smooth process, just found it difficult to wait in a busy public space with our bags and children

They do need to update this ship

Four night cruises can be more of a party ship. Have never experienced a dirty carnival ship. I'm not a fan of the shows, and I've noticed the wait for soda refills... A cruise is just all about what you make it. ❤️🛳
