Review summary

The staff really makes these short trips worth while. The ship itself is dated and showing signs of wear and tear. I think because it does 3 night then 4 night cruises, it is clearly run down by the guests. It sees double the amount of people the seven night cruises, and the repeat turnover, has really worn her down. Food was the worst on this ship compared to other cruises I have taken. Camp Ocean was THE BEST! Counselors and staff were wonderful.

Food and Dining

The buffet left a lot to be desired. Prime rib on the second night was the best they had to offer. Everything else was mediocre at best. Pizza is good as always. Guys burgers was decent as was the deli. If you didn’t like the selection on the buffet for dinner you were basically screwed, as guys burger, blue iguana cantina. I found myself eating a lot of salad.

Children's Programs

Wonderful! The best! Camp Ocean counselors were just awesome, even with my needy, stubborn, indecisive 3 year old. I can’t give this program enough praise! If they saw him elsewhere on the ship, they knew his name and ALWAYS made him feel special. Kids group dinner at 6:00 was a blessing so my husband and I could eat in peace. Both my sons (3 and 6) attended. Next time I will opt for my time dining so we can drop them off and go straight down to dinner. Food was ready for the kids when I dropped them off, and it was a good selection of the kids staple items...chicken nuggets, Mac and cheese, hot dogs, french fries, etc.

Service and Staff

Room steward was awesome. Even for just a three day cruise she remembered the names of everyone in our cabin! I am always so impressed by their memories!

Ship Quality

Design is nice. I love the lobby and lighting! They were doing A LOT of work on the ship so it didn’t feel the cleanest. On our sea day they basically closed the enmities lido deck by the main pool for about two hours to scrub and clean, right at dinner time. Chairs were stacked. They were sanding the floors. It was frustrating and work that should have been done at a more convienent time.

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean but dated.

Thanks for your comments... I am sailing next March - hopefully the maintenance will done. When I booked the cruise I was told the ship was getting a face lift... but I didn’t think it was while they were sailing !

Like you said, the ship has double the turn over, so that means less port (down) time to do repairs. They have to fit it in when they can. Closing the pool area to clean it at dinner time makes more sense than doing it during the breakfast or lunch rush when most folks are eating on deck.

When are they suppose to maintain the ship? Most times it’s when your docked. My goodness some cruisers just don’t get it. The staff is always cleaning. Can’t drydock ships every year because they are a bit worn. How often do you detail your car or buy a new one.

Upkeep of the ships has always been carnival's weakness. As far as the food, I was on this ship when it was new and it wasn't very good.
