Review summary

Overall a nice short break away from the cold and the pressures of work. The Carnival HUB app was very useful for getting around and finding venues on the ship. Also great for keeping in touch with my wife when we were off doing our own thing so we could meet up later. I only wish the app was location aware as someone who is "directionally challenged" I would often head off towards the wrong end of the ship before I realized I was going the wrong way. Lso some venues are harder to reach as some decks don't seem to have walkways that connect between venues in the fore and aft sections.

Embarkation

Quick and orderly. Still has that "Elllis Island" feel in the embarkation areas as you wait in line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Very good and good variety of food. could have used a few more "healthy choices" outside the main dining rooms.

Piano Man Bar

5 out of 5

Piano player was a real hoot! really got the crowds to join in the fun! His after hours (after 11:00pm) song renditions were great fun too. really made evenings aboard a lot of fun. I believe his name was Scott, but can't remember for sure. It could have been the alcohol affecting my memory I suppose....

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Used the fitness center and was a bit disappointed in the shape some of the equipment was in. ellipticals where the screens didn't work and cup holders with no bottom in them. The steam room was out of order during the entire cruise which was a bummer because that is something I always enjoy after a long day or a workout.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Already mentioned the fun we had at the piano bar. Worth the price of admission right there.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward Fandy was great! Very accommodating and friendly, always there when we needed him, but never obtrusive. In the Silver Dining room we had a waitress named Gama who was amazing and a true stand-out. She was funny, clever and discreet. Really made the dining experience enjoyable. I wish I could find that level of service in any restaurant on dry land!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Room was fine, except the toilet which would spontaneously and mysteriously stop working (couldn't flush) and back up nearly to the point of overflowing, only to flush on it's own and start working again some time later. Never became a real problem and Fandy did have maintenance look at it, but it worked fine 90% of the time.

Ship tip

The less expensive, shorter duration cruises like a three night Bahama cruise on the Liberty tends to attract a lot of younger folks whose goal seems to be to consume as much alcohol as possible as quickly as possible and behave "badly". I may sound like an old guy (which I guess I now am), and I'm not complaining as this wasn't unexpected to us and was at times quite entertaining, just fair warning for the un-indoctrinated.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Brief stop, but managed to contribute to the local economy with some purchases. Nice place for a day trip.
