I don't believe I will sail on Carnival again. They lack a lot of things I really enjoyed on other ships, like the chefs making flowers and animals out of veggies and fruit. The decor was really dated. The entertainment was poor with the exceptions I noted above. The cabin (an ocean suite) was very large and comfortable.

Food and Dining

I was very disappointed in the buffet. Always crowded, and the food was only so-so. The dining room food was average, really nothing special, and if you wanted a steak, there was a $20 charge extra. The pool deck food was terrific. Guy's burgers and the Blue Iguana Mexican stand were both terrific, quick lines and easily accessible. The steakhouse restaurant was exceptional. Best meal we had the whole time and I highly recommend it, even with the $35 per person charge.

Entertainment

The entertainment was well below average. The singers and dancers were amateurish. The cruise director named Donkey was a huge plus. He did some of the shows and such and was outstanding. Also, The Silver Trio (string instruments) were fantastic as well, and they took requests! Highly recommend them each afternoon in the main lobby. I would avoid the main shows, they were just terrible.
Service and Staff

Robert in the gold dining room was top-notch and Melencio (cabin steward) both were outstanding.
Ship Quality

The ship was clean but is honestly showing its age. I didn't care for the layout very much. They were areas in the aft that made you go upstairs then to the aft and then down to where you wanted to go because the dining room was closed off and there was no way to go around, you had to go up and over.
Cabin / Stateroom

I was very happy with the cabin, no complaints at all.
There is good and bad about every line. Sounds like you have other cruise line(s) you prefer - and that is OK. Use the line that meets your needs. You tried Carnival and did not care for the experience. I give you credit for trying. You never know! Best wishes on your next cruise.
