Review summary
Cruising is always enjoyable for us. We miss the amenities that used to be there. The ice in your room at night. The mints in our pillows at night when the bed got turned down. The soda in the refrigerators. The quality of meals in the dining room. You can get the same if not better food on the buffet line. The extra cost of the upgrade in food in the dining room.
And the fact that we have been on multiple cruises and you still have us listed as 1st time cruisers and the inability of the desk to do anything about it. We used to be awarded for our loyalty. I guess that means nothing anymore.

Ship tip
The pictures are expensive and should have brought my own bottled water. Shopping for clothes on the Liberty really does not exist.

You can't bring your own bottled water on Carnival cruises. You can order bottles ahead of time from Carnival at reasonable prices.
We get all the amenities that you listed on HAL cruises - chocolates on pillow, ice in the stateroom, soda in the room (extra charge, though,) even nightly towel animals. I always enjoy the food in the MDR as well as in specialty restaurants on HAL. Service is great, too.
I, too, had a problem with Carnival accepting cruises that I had taken - except that they took place back in the 80s before computers. Finally after faxing my ship photos taken by ship photographers, they did give me credt. Originally they would only accept old boarding passes. Not many people keep old paper boarding passes 30 years. Actually i had them in my photo albums but i threw3 them out when I moved.

It's too bad that you experienced some disappointments. The candies at night were discontinued a while ago because so many people were throwing them away, and that costs the company money. You can enjoy coffee anytime by calling room service. The other amenities you missed are supplied by manufacturers, so it was them who stopped providing the items to Carnival. If you ask your room steward for ice, they will provide you with it for your entire cruise.
