Our first cruise

Sail Date: April 01, 2013

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship was very clean and the staff attentive. Our room was a surprise. It was more spacious than we had anticipated, very well arranged. We loved our balcony.
We were both impressed that so much variiety in the menu was offered.
Lastly, as first time cruisers, we were shocked by the stability of the ship. We hardly ever knew we were at sea.

Pros: Loved the same room every night aspect. It was great to have someone else find the next city every day.

Cons: Hearing the announcements. We often heard them, but not where we were.

Recommends Carnival Legend? Yes!

Ship Quality
We were impressed with the level of cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. If they did not understand you, it didn't matter, they smiled and said hello. They kept everything spotless.
Food and Dining
I am a vegetarian, and I found enough to eat. I wish there had been more offering for vegetairan proteins. Overall, the food was great and our server, Jay Jay, fussed over me to be sure I had enough to eat.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were impressed by the efficient layout. It would have been nice if the odd numbered and even numbered sides had an identifying mark of some sort. We were often on the wrong side..
Service and Staff
Everyone was heloful. Our servers tried very hard to keep my vegetarian needs met and the room steward kept our room immacualte order with a sense of joy every time we met him. Every staff person we bumped into in hallways or dining areas, was always very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to greet us.
We enjoyed the Jugger the very most for entertainment. His humer was in good taste and very funny. All the other entertainers did a good job. We did not enjoy the illusionist.
the tour director and his associate, we felt had very poor taste in their humor. We did not enjoy thier putdowns at all and eventually avoided his talks. To embarrass a customer as he did, repeatedly, seemed like a form of bullying. Calvyn did the same but with less panache. He was just plain crude. We did not like it.
We also found that there were a number of errors on the newsletter. The channel numbers listed were not correct. We also could not hear many of the announcements made. they could not be heard from our room or balcony or hallway. By the time we got to where they could be heard...they were over. The disembarkation was also very confusing for first time cruisers. Again, we did not know where to be to hear the announcements. A first time cruise information tips sheet would have helped
