A nice vacation

Sail Date: August 26, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The ship had an older design which I was not expecting since it is only 10 yrs. old. The decorum was very old. If you are looking for a modern looking vessel this is not it. If you are looking for old charm then you will enjoy. The overall size was right for me as this was my first cruise and I did not need to go exploring to find different areas.

Pros: extra sailing time

Cons: inability to get information from employees and shipping lines

Recommends Carnival Legend? Yes!

Ship Quality
The size was great\, pretty clean but some of the restrooms were not up to what one would expect. Decor was old style\, sometimes thought I was on a ship built in the 20's.
Food and Dining
Food overall very good. Had a standard menu that did not change and a daily menu that had some variety. As a dessert lover I would have wished for more variety in that area. Some nights the selection was great and others nothing to speak of. I took the anytime dining. Great in that you can go anytime to eat\, problem is that you do not get an opportunity to meet other passengers. Although coffee was no charge\, a cup of espresso was an additional charge to your bill. Did not think this was appropriate. You have to remember that outside of coffee\, iced tea and lemonade everything is an extra charge.
Cabin / Stateroom
Every time you left the room someone was in after you cleaning up. Decor was good\, size was ok. Need to coordinate how to navigate room if you are a couple. Beds were comfortable.
Service and Staff
I give this an average as we constantly had issues communicating with staff. Some were great\, most had an issue understanding what was asked of them\, and ran into a few who were downright obnoxious or tried to get away from working with your issue.
This is one area that the cruise line did not address very well. A newspaper is given out daily stating activities per day. That was great. The only issue was that you did not know that the individual shows varied daily. The communication on this item needs to be imporoved. The shows themselves are very good. You also need to be aware that some of the onboard activities are not run by Carnival and they have no control over them. The spas are run by an outside company and the internet as well. Connections are slow and you waste time and money waiting for connections.
