Review summary
This is a great cruise for a quick get-away. Look for deals in the off-season as it won't be too expensive. We love doing this cruise at least once a year for the deal.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
We were given directions from our travel agent from Carnival corporation to park at the Long Beach convention center due to the parking at the cruise terminal not being open for parking. Nobody was there to greet us at the convention center parking, nor was it accessible for guests of Carnival to park there, even though signs said they would be open there beginning at 12:30pm. We finally went to the cruise terminal and parking was available to Carnival guests. It seemed disorganized with the lack of communication. Thanks to the ILWU porters at the cruise terminal for their direction and helping us with our bags.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate at the main dining room mostly and at the buffet sometimes. Service was good in the buffet and the lines were reasonable. Food was good for a buffet. We enjoyed our experience in the main dining room and had wonderful service. They were able to accommodate my diet request and I was very please with this, even though I didn't communicate this earlier with my travel agent. This is the reason for 5 stars.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
My husband and adult kids enjoyed the Serenity hot tubs. I enjoyed reading on the Serenity deck.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the musicians at the casino bar and male comedian.
Children's Programs
No young children in our party.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our stateroom steward was very friendly and accommodating to our requests. We really appreciated that the front desk was able to extend complimentary wifi to us for one day as our ship itinerary was changed due to weather causing us to reschedule previous appointments in Ensenada for our party. This really made an impression on me as to how helpful the Carnival staff is to their customers.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We were pleased with the common areas. We did notice their were problems with some of the toilet stalls in the common areas not flushing.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin fits our needs well, and our room steward kept our room neat and tidy.
Ship tip
This is an older ship with very few balconies. It is for people wanting quick get-aways. For the money, it is a great value, especially in the off season.
Not a far walk to the main tourist shopping area. The Buffadora is highly overrated. The downtown shopping area is ok. Most shops sell the same items. Make sure to negotiate a price for your choice of items. Some shops are accommodating to negotiating, while others are not. American dollars are accepted in the tourist areas only. Best massage place is called Massage and Facial Care. You can find them on Trip Advisor and won't be disappointed!
