Review summary
It's a great cruise for the first timer or to getaway for a few days. Getting to the port is very easy and parking is available for $19.00 a day in the parking structure. Lot's of hotels in the area that are nearby for pre and post cruise stay.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Line was a little slow, but overall went smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Being a shorter cruise, we skipped the specialty dining, but overall the food and drinks were excellent. Only one downside, need some good hot sauce or hot peppers in the dining room. Tabasco sauce just doesn't cut it.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Didn't do any activities but are fun to do if you want to get involved. Tried to relax and enjoy the time off sitting back with family and friends while on the ship. Sounds kinda boring, but we still had a great time...
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Entertainment was great. From the Stage Shows to the Comedy, Family and Adult, we were thrilled and dazzled every night. Sorry no pictures...
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
As always, Carnival does a great job with their youth program. Our daughter and niece had a great time as always.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service was great. From our room stewards to the wait staff and beyond. Everyone treated us with the upmost respect and courtesy. Can't say enough for the ships staff. Sorry no pictures...
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The layout is okay and the cleanliness was being maintained around the clock.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This was a last minute jump to get on a cruise, so the cabin wasn't our first choice. As for the cabin itself, it was roomy except for the fact we had a third bedding that was on the floor. Bathroom was small with limited room for our essentials? I would recommend this type of room for couples on a budget or for a first time cruiser.
Ship tip
If your dining in the Carnivale Dining Room and your on deck seven or below, best way to get there is. 1) Walk completely down your hallway to the aft elevator and go up to the Atlantic Deck. 2) Take the Midship or Atrium Elevator to the Promenade Deck and walk down Inspiration Boulevard. Also, when embarking the ship don't go down the stairs if you don't have to. From where we were it was better take the Midship elevator to the Empress Deck.
Nice place to visit if you like shopping or in my case like to see the views from atop Mt. Ada. Rent yourself a golf cart and tour the island for an hour or two. 4 seat carts available just a few hundred feet from the tender dock or for a 6 seat cart, just another 200 - 300 feet down the road.
When visiting Mexico, we usually do our own thing. We hired a driver to take us around to all the interesting points. La Bufadora (The Blow Hole), Zip Lining (unexpected beach detour), Downtown for some shopping and Lunch for some good street tacos. There's lots to do in Ensenada, you just have to go out and find it...
