Review summary

I was very impressed with carnivals attempt to make the cruise safe during this unfortunate Covid times we’re in. I would not hesitate again to do a cruise at this time.

Embarkation

With all the Covid restrictions and requirements I thought they did a very good job. I was on the ship within a half hour

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

I found the main dining room food was consistent with previous cruises. We also went to The Asian restaurant which was good but slightly spicy. And then we went to the Italian specialty restaurant and it was fantastic

Ji Ji Asian Kitchen

Very tasty food. I ate here once on the sunshine back in 2017. So it’s been a while, I found that it was just a little bit on the spicy side

Awesome food like always! This is my wife’s favourite so we always try to hit it on every cruise.

Guy's Burger Joint

Of course I always have to have my traditional double guy burger when I first got on the ship. Good as always

Onboard Activities

My wife and I did the sky ride that was fun considering she’s Afraid of heights. But she still tried it. I found the pools and hot tubs were quite busy. If you went in early morning you’d have a better chance of using one less crowded.

Serenity

A smaller serenity on the horizon compared to previous cruise ships have been on with Carnival. If you weren’t out there by 10 o’clock it was tough to find a spot

Tides Pool and whirlpools

I was usually out eight 9 o’clock in the morning so the hot tubs weren’t very busy at that time. But by early afternoon they were packed and all the hot tubs were on the cooler side.

Entertainment

We went to a few of the comedy shows. They were pretty good. A couple of the dance shows. We really enjoyed the trio violinist from Russia. Very talented.

Limelight Lounge

They had the punchline or comedy at the limelight lounge again it was easy enough to get a spot in the shows are pretty good

Carnival Seaside Theater

We watched a couple movies at the seaside theater. Considering the ship wasn’t at full capacity you never had a problem getting a nice spot.

Carnival Multiplex

We watch the underwater 3-D near rated by Jim Carrey. We really enjoyed it

Service and Staff

I found that the staff on the Carnival horizon were fantastic! Even a little bit more friendlier on this ship than previous. I think with the Covid situation we’re in right now they did a fantastic job cleaning all the time

Ship Quality

I found that the carnival horizon was a very smooth ride even in 8 to 10 foot waves on the return trip to Miami. My wife usually has to wear a patch for motion sickness. And on this cruise she only had to use motion medication one day. This was the newest and largest ship that I’ve been on. I was very impressed with some of the technology on the ship. But I still favour the dream class ships

Cabin / Stateroom

I thought this room was very spacious. And I found that the balcony was a little bit larger on the horizon than previous cruise ships that I’ve been on. Our cabin steward DWI did a fantastic job!

Ship tip

Just give the new elevator system a chance. Once you get the hang of it. It’s great

Not very impressed. I would stay on the ship next time if I return to this port unless you’re doing an excursion

Disembarkation

For diamond and platinum members we met in the reflection lounge and we were walked off the ship by 7:30 in the morning. Probably the earliest disembark meant that I’ve experienced.

Wow! I am impressed that your wife went on the sky ride. I would love to try it, but I am also afraid of heights and apparently, not as brave as your wife.
