I really enjoyed myself and it felt great to be back on a cruise ship again!!! Had fun!!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was easy for me, I had an 11am-11:30am arrival time. I was in line at 11:10am after checking my bags with the porter and then on the ship by 11:25am. I think the waiting and problems start for arrival times after 11:30am, as I have read the horrible stories of it taking 2 hours or more to get on the ship. Remember don’t forget to have ready your passport, original vaccination card, boarding pass and negative antigen or PCR test results.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I have celiac disease so I’m not a foodie. As long as I can find gluten free food I’m good. They have the menu mate person in the buffet at breakfast and lunch, but not at dinner and the selections don’t label what is gluten free. Lotta veggies, salads, fruits and mango swirls!!
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I don’t play trivia. Ocean plaza has trivia every day at different times of the day. I just bring my own reading materials and stay up on the Serenity deck on sea days.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I went to the comedy shows every night. The sunny trio girls electric violins were very good in the atrium. There was a band at night in ocean plaza that played covers of all the hits, I went there in between comedy shows to dance 💃 one night they did 70s music 💃 all night! I did go to one show called celestial strings, I did not care for it. The recorded music was so loud you couldn’t hear the live electric violins playing and the singing wasn’t that good. I also went to the white party and danced the whole time.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
My room steward was great. Thanks, Christopher! Emmanuel from guest services escorted me to medical and stayed with me when I cut my leg, (which by the way has healed nicely) the nurse who cleaned the cut up and helped me was so sweet, I wish I could remember his name. Everyone was polite and friendly.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship was clean and nice. I had no problems with anything in my stateroom or anywhere on the ship I visited. Only 3,300 people on board. It did not feel crowded to me.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
I liked my cabin. It was a twin bed only with a couch that can be a bed. I had two portholes. We had really rough swells on our way to Aruba, and my room was at the very front of the ship, so a lot of booming and banging from hitting big swells at night. Banging was from hearing anchor bang against metal of where it is housed. I liked the rocking and rolling just not the noise.
Ship tip
Gone are the days of showing up with passport and boarding pass and you are on. Remember to bring all passport, boarding pass, original vaccine card, and negative antigen or PCR test results.
Walked across floating bridge and did some shopping. Sunny out and really windy. Short time there. Had to be back on ship by 2:30pm and a lot of the stores don’t open till 10am, just FYI. Sat and had a drink in port and watched the waves crash against rocks. Some people got drenched. Curaçao is beautiful.
I did a carnival tour called Catalina island beach break. 40 min boat ride to an island and had a beach day. Beautiful island, thoroughly enjoyed it. I strongly recommend doing an excursion in la romana as there is nothing to do in port, except a little shopping at a straw market kind of place there.
Amber cove is a place carnival made there. Pool, zip line, waterside, bars, food on one side and shopping on the other side. I just did some shopping and went to Serenity deck the rest of the day. Next time I go (February) I’m going to book a tour.
I found myself looking forward to your posts. I felt like I was vacationing vicariously through you. My cruise is in January. Thanks for all your tips. So glad you enjoyed your cruise!
