Review summary

We overall had a great time on the Horizon Cruise. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of shows/entertainment we could go to as a family. The Family Harbor lounge was wonderful, it was a great place to take a break and hang out on the couches, play games and watch movies. Food overall was good but we were a bit disappointed in the buffets. Pizza and Burgers were delicious.

Embarkation

Embarkation was easy - we did have a surprise when they asked for my husbands birth certificate because they didnt realize we had the enhanced ID but thankfully it was sorted out quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Drinks and main dining was fantastic. We were pretty disappointed in the buffets. Same food on all sides and just not a lot of options.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the pools, Jacuzzi, movies on the deck, family harbor lounge was fantastic and the bars.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The electric violins were great and we laughed and laughed at the comedy shows. I was disappointed that there were no big production shows we could go watch as a family. I am not sure if we were just missing them or if they were not performing that week. I do believe they advertise them on carnival.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My children wanted nothing to do with the Club Ocean which was a bit of a disappointment. My youngest (5) went in once and had a pretty terrible time. It was overcrowded and not enough things to do/share. I walked around and it seemed there was a lot of electronics and not a lot of physical things to do to get the energy out. My youngest did go one more time and stayed for a little longer but was still not wanting to go back. I also thought it was odd that if your child wanted to be picked up they call your room. It seems like it would make more sense to send a message through the hub app since its unlikely parents will be in the room.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very clean. The layout at times was a bit tricky because some floors did not go all the way through. You would need to go down to 3 down the hall then up to 4 to get somewhere (this is an example.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean cabin, very comfy beds. We enjoyed the balcony.

Ship tip

There is not a lot of kid friendly entertainment outside of the Kids Club (shows).

We did not do an excursion. We got off the boat to look around and were extremely overwhelmed by the amount of people trying to sell us things. We could barely walk and it did scare my daughters. We finally ended up at margaritaville after back tracking to get away from all the street sellers. Margaritaville left a lot to be desired, very small beach, very expensive food, $15.00 chair rentals. Drinks were good though and kids had fun in the pool for a bit. We did leave and found a street drummer that taught my girls how to play - that was fun.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Grand Cayman was beautiful. We did book the Turtle Excursion and had a great time as a family. We do wish we had a bit more time to enjoy the excursion.

Are you able to bring the room phone with you in case the kids call to be picked up from the kids club and you aren’t in the room?
