Review summary

This was the worst cruise that I have every taken.  Me and my husband both got sick from eating food from the burrito bar.  While sitting on deck 10 in the smoking section we were seeing some type of bugs.  Took pictures went down to guest services and they acted like it was nothing.  What made my trip enjoyable was the people that I met on the ship.  Carnivals quality has gone down the drain.  Our cruise was changed from eastern Caribbean to western and they only gave each guest a $15 credit.  They do not have to ever worry about me and my husband ever sailing again with them again.

Service and Staff

The housekeeping staff was excellent. The other areas act like they had attitudes with everybody.

Ship Quality

My room was excellently cleaned everywhere else I can't say that. Was on deck 10 in the smoking section seeing bugs.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was ok did not plan on being in the cabin only to sleep. However, the cabin is really only for one person. With two people in the room it's tight.

Ship tip

Don't eat anything from the burrito bar.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  This was my experience and I am entitled to say what I want about MY experience.  Now if anyone wants to send me and my husband on a cruise feel free to do so and we will go where YOU PAY for us to go.  But if we are paying then we expect to get what we pay for.  And buy the way this was not my first cruise I have gone on several to be exact 10 and have never experienced what I experienced on this cruise.

Being in the U.S. Coast Guard I certainly know about weather and having to change pots of call due to weather. I have sailed in bad weather and I have flown in bad weather to save people all over the globe. I am sure knowing the possible consequences of sailing into a severe storm I was more than happy with the changes.

In essence, with the business of my life, I was happy just to go.....I personally could care less about which ports they take me to, one island looks like the next and all the islands have basically the same concept excursions.

I ate at the Blue Iguana and I did not get sick once. I found the food quite tasty and wished they were open longer than they were. I have a very educated palate and enjoy all different kinds of foods. If you had issue with the Blue Iguana perhaps ask them to tone down the spice or make another wise choice in food.

Be grateful we did not sail the original itinerary. 1 month later we lost a cargo ship The El Faro in a hurricane with 39 souls aboard, 28 were American. Cruise ships can go down too. As far as the $15.00 per person refund they gave, that was based upon the differences in port charges. Seriously, considering what we pay to cruise,  the $15.00 is negligible and just enjoy your time.

I never saw bugs on the ship nor was the ship "dirty" just needed some love and renovations.

Sorry you and your husband got sick, but it was more likely from the cruise itself aka motion sickness which is common. Also the change of itinerary is common when you travel to the Caribbean during hurricane season. Reason why I booked my next cruise in May.

yeah maybe 1000 plus people eat at the blue iguana everyday and you were the only ones that got sick. hmmmm? bugs oh no! birds oh no ! fish oh no !

WOW!! What a terrible thing from Carnival to change the itinerary to keep you and all the guests save from the hurricane. Very inconsidered from them to do this to you specially when you signed a contract which states that Carnival has the right to change routes without notice if there is a situation that requires it. and the gave u $15? U should not eat Mexican food if u cant handle it,

we loved the food and too bad the blue iguana wasn't open longer but everything was awesome. waiting for our next carnival cruise.

I'm sorry you and your husband became ill. Has that never happened to you before after eating at a restaurant?

My wife n I have sailed with Carnival, MCS, RCL and never took I'll from the food...Maybe a bit from seasickness from rough seas. I believe some people are so used to their own cooking or local restaurant foods and are just picky. When on any holiday, food and water will always be different to their taste and likeness. Get used to it folks or stay home and save yourself from enjoying life!

Well one lady I know of did get sick in the dining room. But that's the only other one I heard of. My husband and I ate many many times and never got sick. I even had a beef burrito from Blue Iguana and didn't get sick

the blue iguana was the best. we never got sick once. and yeah they do not control the weather but at least they try and take you to another island to make up for it.

We just got home from this cruise. I admit, the on board activities and shows were sparse with the exception of the comedy shows, the food wasn't all that great plus the port choices. But carnival isn't all bad. The Fascination was great!
