Review summary

The ship was fairly well maintained but "dark, dark, dark." Gaudy decor. The service was excellent (outside of American staff on Pride of Hawaii - Norwegian), we have had excellent service on all of the cruise lines we've traveled. The staff knock themselves out to care for their passengers. We're just not "Carnival" people.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
There was nothing (outside of the chocolate melting cake and most desserts) to distinguish the food - it was plentiful but that's typical of cruise lines.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The x-rated comedy was tasteless. The illusionist was outstanding. Others were okay.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the staff - they were fun and outgoing - excellent cruise director and entertainment staff.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The public spaces seemed small for 3400 passengers (comparing to Princess and Celebrity)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Here's where Carnival did a good job as I noted above. The colors were okay (I'm not a fan of Carnival orange and dark wood) but the room arrangement was well done. Lots of good storage - loveseat (Princess, e.g., has only a side chair in a similar class room - verandah) - flat screen TV - well maintained.

Pros: The itinerary was very good but we were disappointed we didn't get to go to Belize and weren't informed in time to cancel the cruise and change to someone who included Belize. The Glory has very nice verandah rooms - lots of storage and quite comfortable.

Cons: Carnival, overall. I knew better. The demographics don't fit 70 year olds.

Recommends Carnival Glory? No.
