Review summary

This was our first cruise, but we were with others who were experienced cruisers. That helped a lot! Overall, we had a great time and look forward to our future cruises!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Parking was a disaster. They're working to improve the parking, but in the meantime, we spent roughly an hour waiting in lines to get parked. After getting parked, the rest of the process was excellent!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Our family liked most meals. The breakfast offerings were more limited than we expected, but still ok. Lines were long at times, but we expected that. I don't think we ever waited more than 15 minutes.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We had so much fun doing everything we tried during the whole cruise!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The cruise director (Todd Evans) was so awesome! He brought so much energy to everything. Every show and event we went to were excellent. They are the main reason we have three cruises booked for 2024.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
We didn't use the kids club. When we took our 13 year old and found there was no supervision and the teens could come/go as they pleased, we knew she wasn't staying. We've heard a few stories about totally inappropriate things happening and wanted no part of that for our daughter. She stayed with us the whole cruise and we loved it!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was so friendly and helpful!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
First cruise, so nothing to compare Freedom to, but it worked for us. I noticed some aging and wear, but I don't recall seeing anything dirty or unsafe. We've booked 2 more cruises on Freedom, so I guess it's good enough for us!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an ocean view, but the window had a lot of built-up salt that made seeing out clearly kind of difficult. Not sure if this is normal. Otherwise, everything was good, if a bit aged.

Ship tip

Make a plan for the day each day. It makes everything go so much smoother.

Ports of call

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Tons of fun at the pool all day! Plenty of seating and we were lucky enough to get shade from some trees.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Swam and snorkeled on the right side of the pier. Big mistake. Way too rock. To the point of being dangerous. The beach and water on the left side were soooo much better. Nice shops too!

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Parking was a mess, but good otherwise.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It was very congested waiting for an elevator, but otherwise, went very smoothly.
