We Carnival fans. This was our third and we already had another two on the books. But it wasn’t our favorite ship and Carnival really needs to start balancing quality and low cost better.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had priority boarding so the embarkation experience went well
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was very average. Guy’s burgers and Blue Iguana still good but the buffet, dining room and sea day brunch was very average
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
It’s time for Carnival to start updating their shows

Service and Staff

Our room steward was very pleasant. The rest of the ship staff seemed to be in auto-pilot. Overall not bad but nothing to remember.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
I read this ship was renovated in 2019 which isn’t that long ago but the decor is very dated and dark. And Carnival really need to step up in just routine maintenance. Everyone understands the ocean environment is brutal but other brands you’ll see maintenance happen routinely and it feels like Carnival is not caring as much anymore.
Cabin / Stateroom

We loved the size and having two bathrooms. The balcony was great.
Ship tip
There are older ships that don’t feel old and older ships that need some love. The Freedom is the latter. I hear it is supposed to get the funnel fixed in 2023 and hopefully they’ll do some more work then.
There is a lot of construction on the new port and can’t wait to see it finished. We did a private inclusive cabana on Pearl Island and really enjoyed it.
First time to Princess Cays and overall enjoyed it. It anyone remembers Royal Caribbean’s Cocoa Cay before the massive renovation it’s a lit like that. We did the private adult only cabana in the Sanctuary and really loved it.
