Overall we give this cruise a solid 7. The rough seas were handled as best as they could be by the Captain. Our cabin was a pleasant surprise. Food was underwhelming. Guy's Burgers were good one day but meh the next. Tacos were good. Was not overly impressed with the Sea Day brunch. We are not picky eaters, just like good tasting food. Entertainment was enjoyable. Enjoyed the 3 ladies playing violins. We have cruised before, however, this was our 1st with Carnival. We will cruise with them again, just not maybe in the near future.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very easy process, didn't take long to get on the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Very underwhelmed with the food. Didn't go away hungry, but wasn't looking forward to the next meal.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Seemed to have many activities available.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Went to 2 shows and a PG Comedy show, all 3 were good.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Had no clue who our room steward was, but everything was always cleaned and ready for us. Waiter was great, attentative. It was a weird experience for me to see so many staff members standing in the buffet lines to get their meal. I understand they have to eat too, just don't ever remember seeing this on other cruise lines.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Ship layout was awkward, had to zig and zag. Hand sanitizer was available everywhere. Ship seemed clean overall.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was the very 1st cabin forward on Deck 2. Cabin was spacious, lots of storage, bathroom big. We were sailing thru rough seas due to Hurricane Nicole and there was something below us that banged from one side to the other as the ship swayed. Almost like something didn't get tied down.
Ship tip
Go to the Red Frog Pub (behind the casino) for their happy hour. For us it was on the afternoon we were at Grand Turk from 3-5. Drinks are half off. Fish bowls were $12!!
We had a Puerto Plata City Tour excursion that included the rum factory, cigar factory, amber museum, chocolate factory, city square, catholic church, umbrella street, and a fort.
We did not have an excursion. Not a whole lot to do there besides drink and lay on the beach. We walked toward Governors Beach and a couple from the ship stopped and offered a ride around on their golf cart with them. We were able to see the whole island. Lots of free roaming donkeys!
