Review summary

I love Carnival. There is always something to do...or nothing at all! From the Punchliner Comedy Club to the Playlist in Concert Broadway style shows to the Karaoke club to the swim pools, jacuzzis, exercise club, and so much more. And, above all else, you get to meet so many interesting people! Life is cruising. Cruising is Freedom!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation easy with Carnival Cruises

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Dining Rooms were Terrific as always!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
This ship offered frequent and long Karaoke sessions. Very hospitable. Host Francisco was great! Exercise center good.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage Shows were Fabulous! The "80's Pop to the Max" show was the highlight of my cruise. I stayed and watched it twice! Also, the "Freedom Rock Band" in the Atrium really rocked classic songs! Very Professional!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waiters, room stewards, fun squad, and all personnel were terrific!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I thought some public areas were too dimly lit (i. e some elevator banks, and the atrium). Everything was clean and spotless! The entertainment layout with most of the clubs together in the aft deck 4 & 5 made it easy to "crawl" in evenings.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
I had an "inside guarantee". I got deck six (ship center). Unfortunately, it was in the general area of the atrium and some of the shows in the evening were very loud, and the walls more thin than I have had on previous cruises.

Ship tip

Tip #1: Don't miss the first "formal night" where you get Lobster tail included at dining room, and I believe Prime rib or filet mignon.Tip#2: If you want to "share" a table (in Your-Time dining) and meet some other cruiser(s), when you "check-in" to the dining room on the Carnival Hub app, there is a box you can check to "share" table.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
There are protective areas from sun, no need to rent beach umbrellas like other private islands. Also, there is decent snorkeling by the rock levee.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville Bar, beach, shops.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Relax at the very hospitable large pool/bar/water park type area. Activities offered there are water slides, zipline ($20 for day), lockers ($6), restaurant, rest rooms, casual lazy river type of pool (no inflatables). Lots of chaise longs.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy disembarkation.
