Review summary

Many small details were missing. For example, we would leave the cabin with the service requested sign on the door. Returning 2 to 2 1/2 hours the room still hadn't been made up. Customer relations were not at all helpful. We kept getting the "we don't handle that". Our bill was incorrect and it took three tries to get it corrected. The wait staff in the two main dining rooms were outstanding. In fact, this was the first of 14 cruises where we actually got to know the maitre'd. I long for the return of smaller ships, those less than 2000 passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Most beef was either overcooked or tough or both. The same goes for the seafood. Lunch buffets were much better than dining room food.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Stage shows were so, so. Lounge entertainers had much more talent. It is a shame that many lounge personnel will be replaced by DJ's.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Wait staff was outstanding. Housekeeping, bar staff, and customer service not so much.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Sofa was uncomfortable. TV remote didn't work. Balcony is always a plus but the table was so large it made the chair arrangement difficult.

Pros: Cabin location, ports of call, price

Cons: Indifferent atticute of many (not all) crew members. Food mediocre most days.

Recommends Carnival Freedom? No.
