Review summary

This review is about Carnival and how they changed my destination whenever they felt like it and gave no reparations for it. I sailed on a 5 day cruise and paid over $1000. I booked Half Moon Cay and Nassau. I did not want to go to Freeport. There were cruises online I could have went through for Freeport and Nassau for half that price. They kept us out at sea for 2 and half days! Everyone I met was not happy about this. They also cut short our time in Freeport to half a day. So I paid 3 times what I could have paid for 1 1/2 day in port. huh???!!! They told me that they can do whatever they want with my cruise while I'm there even though I AM PAYING FOR IT! And if take away something I paid extra for and did not get then at least provide some type of compensation. Yeah the people were nice and the excursions I paid for were great. But outside of that, the ship was really old. Looked like a late 80's movie, their comedians were super vulgar so be ready for that and they are understaffed when it comes to food. You have to stand in these massive lines that take forever at any of the buffets which are what's mostly open until 7pm for dinner. My pillow had some kind of brown stuff on it, don't know what. I am just not happy with Carnival at all. It was my first cruise for my birthday and I could have just went to a resort like I did for my 30th, Punta Cana. People kept asking am I taking another cruise....if I do NOT WITH CARNIVAL!

as long as they keep us safe I am grateful!

Poor thing! Yes, cruise ships can and do miss ports. Weather, dangerous conditions at port, etc can all cause changes in itinerary. A few cruise back we missed St. Kitt's because a group from another ship on a shore excursion were robbed. Nothing we could do about it and the captain decided to be safe than sorry. And, September is in hurricane season. Next time, don't sail in hurricane season.

I am cruising the fascination now. We pull back into home port on Saturday. This is my 2nd carnival cruise, 1st was Carnival Fantasy. Both have been exceptional cruises and the best staff. We like to eat in the dining room with "your time dining" and we have never had more than a few people ahead of us. We have the same waiter each night (Samuel). Our 3 kids, age 9, 12 & 15 love dinner in the dining room with Samuel bc he makes them origami lol. Not only that, but great customer service! I'm so glad we decided to bring the kiddos this time; they are having so much fun! Carnival is amazing :D

I guess you would not have liked the only 2 cruises I've been on. Haze gray and underway. USS KITTY HAWK CV-63 :)

I'd rather be safe than sorry any time

Defenition of a cruise: sail about in an area without a precise destination, especially for pleasure. just saying. .....

Devincmills. ... That is true for any ship, not just carnival

It's no ones fault but your own if you didn't do your research on Half Moon Cay before you booked. There is no port there, if the captain feels it would questionable weather to tender passengers over on a small boat they won't do it. It's the nature of any stop that doesn't have a true port.

We leave on this ship soon first time on the fascination and I really do not care where we go as long as we r safe. And you all are so right you make the cruise what u want it to be, not the ship.

Oh and as for the comedians, I have a right to my own opinion and I didn't think on a family cruise they would talk like that. They only thing they can talk about is sex and private parts? Ridiculous. Other things are funny. And I went to the 915pm show thank u. Point is its my opinion and my money and I didn't pay for that.

FelicitySpencer    9 years ago

U all say all that and yes my safety is important but point is I didn't get what I paid for and alot of ppl on the boat said the same. The guest services line was ridiculous because of it.

"They told me that they can do whatever they want with my cruise while I'm there even though I AM PAYING FOR IT!". "They" were right...read your cruise contract. And you paid for a cruise, not the specific destinations. You may not want to sail with Carnival again but keep in mind that changing the itinerary for safety of passengers, crew and vessel are the same across ALL cruise lines.

I LOVE Carnival, if they change direction, miss a port....because I could die in a storm.....fine with me!

ChrisandFrank    9 years ago

Tropical storm ericka was hitting Cuba at that time. It had just been downgraded from a hurricane. I don't know for sure, but would think that is why you were at sea the extra time. Even if a hurricane or tropical storm is not over your head, can be dangerous. Even though there is weather tracking, the storms can change at anytime. Safer to have the boat at sea than tied to a dock.

You don't have to sail Carnival again, just leaves more room for those who read the contract and are happy with the Captains decision to avert a possible danger zone, figure lines will be had at the buffet, realize that an over 18 show might have questionable content/language & just enjoy themselves because they are on VACATION ⚓️⚓️

Heartkrazy    9 years ago

As for lines at a buffet, what do you expect with a ship with over 1,000 people on it? Problem with your pillow, ask your room steward to change it for you. Vulgar comedians, don't attend the over 18 show after 11 pm.

Heartkrazy    9 years ago

She was on the Fascination according to the profile. ANY cruise line can change any ITINERARY when deemed necessary as per your cruise contract. If there is inclement weather anywhere in the vicinity of a port they will forgo that destination to keep the passengers safe. If you didn't got to a port, check you final bill as those port charges will have been deducted.
