Review summary

Good news first.....The staff on this ship made our vacation the best possible! We met some truly amazing people who really care and go above and beyond to meet expectations. Our ports of call were great and we enjoyed our time as usual.

Little Stirrup Cay provided us with a chance to see 2 sharks as they were swimming at the shore in the area where guests were swimming along with jellyfish. We took the clam shell excursion to the private area and relaxed under a tree in the shade right at the edge of the ocean! It was well worth the money!

Unfortunately, the ship is old and really showing her age. The Fascination needs some serious repair. We feel as if Carnival is not spending any money on upkeep and maintenance. We have never seen this ship in so much need of repairs and updates. We have sailed on this ship 6 times total over the past few years and this is the first time we have been shocked at the condition.

The deck flooring is in terrible shape and needs to be replaced at this point as it looks like it is beyond repairing. The material that holds the deck boards together is coming up and hanging in large strings where guests walk. It poses serious trip hazards.

The door knobs in public areas such as restrooms are falling apart and many are "rigged" to somewhat work. The doors that enter the restroom have mechanisms to auto open for this with disabilities....unfortunately they were not working so the doors are propped open. I honestly do not know why they would not simply repair/replace them to provide more privacy.

The A/C in our cabin was less than effective. It was reported but was never fixed. Our family in a cabin a few decks down had very good A/C. We have been in this same cabin several times before and never had a problem with the A/C until now. We could hear lots of work going on with power tools in our area but not certain what they were trying to fix. ???????

Their "internet service" was beyond slow. This was my 24th cruise and I can honestly say I have never experienced internet service at sea that is slower than the old dial up! It was so slow it would not load a page completely and many other guests were complaining. Do NOT buy an internet plan until this is fixed! It is a waste of your money!

Carnival needs to give this ship some serious updates and address the aging ship unless they are planning to retire the Fascination. Overall we made the best of our time and enjoyed our trip, as It is what you make of it after all.

We had A/C issues that were reported but never addressed. If they checked it, we were not informed. Difficult to catch an elevator in this section of the ship. Our cabin steward was great !!

Ship tip

Avoid the Veranda deck due to A/C issues. The internet is not worth your time or money.
