Review summary

We picked this cruise and ship because these were the only days that my husband could take off, but sometimes you're just lucky. Although my 14 year old was sick with strep throat the whole cruise, we all managed to have a good time anyway, mostly due to the wonderful staff, and the wide variety of activities that were available all the time. Our stateroom staff allowed her privacy and rest, but made sure to clean her room every day, and room service was timely. The infirmary staff was knowledable and helpful. Any time she felt better, there was an activity to take part in, and I didn't see my 17 year old except for shore excursions and bedtime, because he was busy with the teen friend he made. Our maitre' d had thoughtfully placed us at a table with another 14 year old girl, and family from the Midwest so we were comfortable at dinner with people we had much in common with, and enjoyed meeting new people from all over at the other meals. The parasailing company in Key West was wonderful, and to do something that could be potentially dangerous was so much fun because the crew was so careful and competent. We also got great service from the Duty-free staff while purchasing jewelry. And one of the highlights of the trip was the spa. The spa company employs very good estheticians and massage therapists and the couples massage room is great. We enjoyed the facials, manicures, and massages. All in all, an experience we will repeat.

Ports of call

Get out there early. Long lines for the trolleys into town. The woman in the bookstore at the museum by the trolley stop is very knowledgable about Hemingway and has lots of books about him. If you tell her alittle about your interests, she can tell you which you would enjoy most, and she clearly loves her job
Don't Miss: Parasailing, because it's not safe to do in Mexico, so do it here.

Pros: The Cruise director's activities, shore excursions, shows.

Cons: The ship is older and could use some redecorating in the main areas, but the staterooms were lovely and comfortable, and everything was clean beyond imagining.
