Review summary
The only thing I can really say about this cruise it that we found it a little disappointing. From the start things just did not seem to work out.
At the port we had to check luggage we have never had to check before because of its size.
When we arrived at our cabin it looked its age (the ship is 25 years old) even though the ship was "refurbished" last year. The AC vent was filthy, part of the cabin wall/panel was broken off, the desk was covered in dirt and the bathroom floor had hair on it.
We did not meet our room steward until the third day of the cruise.
Walking around the ship it is looking its age. This was our second time on the Fantasy (the other time was 10 years ago) and it seemed a lot older than it should be. You can only cover up rust spots so many times with paint before you just cannot do it any more.
The only thing memorable about the food was that it was not hot. It was warm at best and the quality was off. For example, one night I got the bitter and blanc (white and dark chocolate bread pudding) for dessert and there was only a little dark chocolate in it and it was so dense that you could not add the sauce to it. The best meal was the seaday brunch but even then there were problems. They did not bring one of the sides for the meal. Dining room service was, in a word, cold.
The Serenity deck (which is where we spent most of our time in the sun) was small and the cushions on the chairs were in poor shape. However, there were no children there (as it should be).
Although the seas were rough I did not figure that into my review. That was not Carnival's fault.
Unless they do a complete renovation of this ship this will be our last cruise on the Fantasy.

Ship tip
This ship is showing its age poorly. Unless you just want to take a short cruise to get away I would not recommend this ship.

We cruised from March 2 to March 6.
I knew when I posted this there were going to be comments attacking me. I am not one to sugar coat things because I believe most people want the truth, ugly or not. We knew it was an older ship but our favorite ship, the Conquest, is getting up in years.
Some things were good on the cruise. Like I said, seaday brunch and the lack of children in the Serenity area. I forgot to include the Love and Marriage show. That is always funny. And, if you like your cabin cold (which my wife does) the AC worked real well.
However, when you go into your cabin and see dirty floors and surfaces it puts you in a negative mood. However I guess a lot of cruisers get too drunk to notice these things.
