Review summary

We were tuck on the ship 1&1/2 days longer because of hurricane Helene. Once we were told we were going to port we had a very short time to pack. there was a "get off our damn ship" vibe displayed from carnival. No information was given to us about the conditions in the area from the storm. Just a hour or so from port we encountered no power, gas, food, or hotels. This jepordized the safety of my family & all your guests. If we would have known this information we would have stayed in Jacksonville & not attempted to travel that evening after getting of the ship at 6pm with only a couple hours of daylight left. I understand Carnival is a company & number one goal is to make a profit. Please don't do it by putting my family or your guests in danger.

Embarkation

We bought behind the fun tour. The purchase had 9/21/24 @ 9:15 in Jacksonville as the time to meet. Come to find Carnival can not put the correct time and date on the order receipt. It wS for the the last day at sea. So we had to wait 3 hrs.in the car before boarding. The security guards were very rude. Most of the Carnival workers were clueless & didn't know how to help us. Finally we found someone to explain how Carnival screws up the info & they know it & can't figure out how to fix it.r

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was okay at best. Very small portions at dinner. Quality has definitely gone down since my last cruise.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Bingo & waterslide was the best activities we did.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We seen welcome aboard show and the performers talent was awesome. The other shows seemed to be direct to demographic and were not interested at all. Its probably time to update the shows.

Disembarkation

Once we got off it wasn't bad getting through customs. Everyone tried to get off at the same time. So we left early too. We would have been there for hours if we waited in the disorganized chaos.

So you debarked and drove an hour away to where the storm had hit and noticed storm damage, no hotel rooms, etc. Now you are upset that Carnival did not warn you not to go where you drove to? Who put your family in danger?

We booked a behind the fun tour on Carnival Elation and even though it shows an early time slot, which is before you would even get on the ship. It states that the ticket is for the last sea day.

I believe that when you book the behind the fun tour, it states that it happens on the last sea day. We did it on our last cruise and that's how it was for us.

I believe that it is your responsibility to research conditions outside of the port

Sorry it was a mess. Like another one said, it's not Carnival's responsibility to find out where everyone is going once they leave the ship to tell them what they may incounter after the storm. The storm disrupted not only those getting off but the passengers that were supposed to get on the ship a day and a half earlier too, right? You know what is Carnival's responsibility......to keep you safe while underway, and it seems that they did just that. Take this as a learning lesson when cruising out of Florida from June to November. Nobody can control the weather.

You can order multiple appetizers and 2 entrees which seems like enough... Plus go to the buffet and pizza if you want more..... You left the ship and traveled to where you wanted to go.... Carnival didn't force you to go to Jacksonville. Sorry your AC did not work well..... Yes it is a old but majestic ship.... Thanks for your review

Seems to me after getting off the ship you should have checked on conditions before heading out. It’s not Carnival’s job to inform you of conditions locally. Also, when they are late getting back to port it messes their schedule up. Try to understand what they are going through.

It's terrible that there were small portions at dinner. If only they would let you order unlimited appetizers and 2 entrees and unlimited desserts that might solve that issue.

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry you felt uninformed. Sadly, we are still learning about the devastation. Glad you made it home safely.
