Review summary

For a cheap cruise, it was a classic example of “you get what you pay for.” I’d pay more next time for a better experience and probably not on carnival if this cruise is what they are all like at the moment.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Fine. No issues. Longish lines. Random drug searches

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Unlabeled artificial sugars galore resulted in painful migraines. Long lines for customer service, specialty food areas, lack of good fruits and vegetables, lots of bland golden group foods. Asking for alternative milks was like pulling teeth. It gets two stars because the main dining hall was generally okay.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Lots of equipment out of order; library often unacceptable for profit center meals, no jogging/walking track (but no restrictions on jogging on the decks).

Entertainment

1 out of 5
What little we saw was bland and meh.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Generally nice crew but overworked. Much fewer staff and attention than on past cruises.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship looked good and was generally clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Well laid out and generally comfortable room. Slight old sewage smell in room that never went away. Water pressure and temperature rarely worked correctly. Had to contact maintenance three times. They responded promptly each time. Still annoying.

Ship tip

Order a custom pizza at the pizza place and you get the whole pizza instead of half.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Some decent museums, history and beaches.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

2 out of 5
Not my kind of place, but on leaving the property, which you can do, there are good shelling beaches and bike riding opportunities. The cruise ship part of the island feels like a enclosed human sea lion colony.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Ok. Lines were long-ish but generally flowed
