Review summary

Out of 7 cruises, this tops number 3. We prefer smaller ships and even with the age of the Elation the ship is well maintained. The decks are overall easy to navigate, enough onboard activities to satisfy simple needs and pleasures. The food on our trip was decent, and our stateroom was good and spacious. All the crew were great as usual.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Boarded the ship within less than a hour after arrival.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Only ate in the buffet once during embarkation. Rest of the food at buffet during the cruise didn’t look interesting. Main restaurant food was hit or miss but mainly good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
As this is a small ship it was minimal with onboard amenities but enough to satisfy someone like ourselves that like the simplicity of cruising without all the frills. Mainly at the Serenity deck majority of the trip which was okay.

Serenity

3 out of 5

Even though we spent everyday at this venue, seating was really limited and most of the lounge chairs were in the sun. No pool, only two jacuzzis. The location is on the aft which makes for great views of the ocean and the ships wake with little to no wind which is great for getting out of the jacuzzis at night but can be miserable during the day if there’s no wind.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was good.

Children's Programs

Don’t have kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Carnival service and staff never cease to amaze!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
For an old ship it is really kept in great shape. The design is classic and love the looks of it. The ship was overall very clean, especially the public restrooms which I typically despise using but had to a few times.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Honestly the room for the size was good. The room has porthole windows with a section that you could sit in and watch outside the windows. The bathroom was designed differently from the Conquest class ships we were use to and actually prefer it as is because it offered more ergonomic room but it did have less vanity space.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

5 out of 5
Simple port. Outdoor parking. Staff were friendly. Was able to board under a hour when we arrived even when we arrived about two hours early.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
The port is beautiful to look at but that’s about it for us. We’ve been there a few times and don’t care for the experiences as the people do nothing but haggle you severely. So this has become a port we stay on the ship for.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Much like Half Moon Cay, it’s a private port that you have to tender too. The beaches can be a bit rocky.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
If you have a passport, it’s super easy to leave. I literally was the only one in that line while it seemed like the whole ship was stuck in the line without passports.
