Review summary

I literally was so excited to be back on a ship since Covid! I had an amazing cruise and wish I could beam myself back on board! Masks were never required anywhere which was amazing!!! Yes, there’s some things that have changed but not much!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I read so many negative reviews about this process that I was genuinely worried. My daughter and I arrived about 20 min prior to our appointment time and literally got in line and we’re on the ship in less then an hour! I thought the workers did an amazing job!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Again, so many bad reviews on the food. Very wrong. There are so many options for food. Blue iguana is a favorite for breakfast burritos, and lunch burritos. Guys burgers is delish! Dining room always had something I could eat and enjoy! Our waiter Raghu made sure we never ran out of bread and butter!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Most of the time you can find me in the casino lol but I did manage to do some other activities. The shows at night were very good and Epic Rock was simply amazing! I played trivia for the first time out of 12 cruises and it was a blast! So was the game “Celebrity Heads” Deal or no Deal was so much fun. I played along for $40 dollars but probably would not do that next time as odds of winning seemed pretty slim, for me anyway. Due to Covid the casino didn’t have as many promotions but the “Hot Seat” was fun! I won over a thousand dollars on the first day so it gave me fun money to play with the entire trip. I still came out ahead about $400 but the slots can be a bit tight. My daughter lost all week long but then won all her money plus some on the last 2 days so she was super excited about that!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Electric Violins were awesome! I went to the comedy show the first night with Matt Sadler and I did not enjoy his comedy. As I said previously I thought the entertainment was great!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every single person I encountered was kind and welcoming! Room steward Fadil was great!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Elevators were pretty slow but most of the time you just had to go up 1-2 floors or down 1-2 floors by the stairs. The crew kept this ship sparkling clean. Everyone e says how old the ship is but I thought it looked great for it’s age!😁

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had an inside cabin at the back of the ship on the Lido deck. It was nice and dark at night and quiet. The bed was quite small and I hated the pillows lol! I love the gentle rocking of the ship while I’m falling asleep! This ship was super, super hot! I had the air conditioner as high as it would go and never got cold. Elation was the hottest ship I’ve ever been on. The air conditioning wasn’t great anywhere. That is my only big complaint. This was the first time I took a shower and the water pressure was so bad but that was easily solved by asking for a new shower head and that one was so much better!

Ship tip

Bring a small fan if you get hot easily.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

We booked a Stingray swim excursion and I highly, highly recommend this! First of all it was very inexpensive, and second they gave us tons of time to snorkel with the rays and spent a lot of time letting us hold, feed the Sting Rays, and fun pictures! I believe it only cost like $55 dollars and it was one of the most detailed and good amount of time excursions I’ve been on. Never felt rushed and they answered all the questions people had. We got to snorkel and see tons of different fish and I saw a squid and a fish that looked like a Barracuda. The island was beautiful! We also got our hair braided which was painful but good lol!! There’s little places to shop for different souvenirs and jewelry.

There was a lot of construction on the marina dock. We did an excursion that was just a short walk off the ship. We went to Blue Lagoon and swam with Nurse Sharks. It was really fun. We got to snorkel around with these big nurse sharks and see other sea life. We got to hold onto the shark and feel there skin and take pictures. I really enjoyed this excursion but it was a little shorter then I would have liked. On the boat ride back the boat captain pointed out celebrity homes and the island that Gilligan’s Island opening credits was filmed. I highly recommend it!

Embarkation was great and no problems. We used VeriFLY and it was quick and easy.

Disembarkation

So, so easy and quick. Only line back up was customs but even that moved quickly! We literally met at our meeting spot and was escorted right off the ship. We were on our way by 9am.
