Review summary

DO NOT go on the Elation, as I said the crew and staff were great. They just don't have anything to work with but a sad old boat. You can take the Liberty or the Magic (Mardi Gras is too dam big and 6000+ passengers is too many) to the same places and the comfort zone on both is excellent. I would put to you the way I did on the Carnival survey. if they offered me a FREE cruise with Free drinks, excursions and internet but it had to be on the Elation I wouldn't say no thank you I would say HELL NO!

Food was BAD Every piece of meat was tough and / or full of fat and grizzle. You could break windows with their "Honey Biscuits"

No Dive In Movies I realize it's the smallest boat and 2nd oldest but they could show movies in the Mikado Theater a couple times a day

No real themed shows just Bingo, Deal or No Deal, and a" Variety" show with bits and pieces of legitimate shows done by misc performers from other ships DJ's and Lounge performers were great

Everything was clean and very well kept if your fond of 80's Las Vegas

Room size and cleanliness were excellent however you get a refridge that your cartons of chocolate milk will sour and curdle and a nice 40" flat screen that had "No Signal" on all the broadcast channels 80% of the entire cruise no matter where the ship was (of course all the Carnival "shill" channels worked perfectly)

Ship tip

Go on the Liberty It goes the same places for about the same money and you'll have a Good Time

Went to Margaritaville to use the "Largest" pool in the caribbean. A Polar Bear wouldn't be able to stay in there It was that cold. You would think they could heat it a little. We went to the restaurant to get Cheeseburgers in Paradise. My wife had checked the website before we left because she is Diabetic and they said the Keto friendly options was No bun and substitute a house salad for the french fries. We were told that was not possible. When we got the bill I looked at it and there was a 15% gratuity charge and a 15% Service charge and believe it or not there was an empty line for additional TIP (and they charged for 3 drinks instead of 2)

Do research before you book your next cruise so you get newer ships that you like or try a different cruise line newer ships

Thanks for the review. Most others who have reviewed recently have given good reviews. Sounds like cruising may not be for you, or at least not during Covid. Cruising is not the same as pre-Covid and may never be exactly the same again.
