Review summary

Overall, we had a fantastic time. The only negatives were obvious disorganization with the fun squad and a lack of enticing menu items.

Embarkation

Very smooth and organized. No issues or delays.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I was disappointed in the menus, especially since it was a holiday sailing. We ended up only going to the main dining room once during the 10 days (we did a back-to-back).

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We had great fun playing and winning Bingo and also winning at Deal or No Deal. The duck hunt was also fun. However, the organization of these activities needs work. For example, Bingo card sales at the same time as the Deal or No Deal game is poor planning and happened on both cruises.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were short and talent wasn't up to the normal Carnival standards.

Cabin / Stateroom

Roomy...we typically like having the sofa, but really appreciated the extra space.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Went on the Hummer excursion. So much fun! Stopped at a beach, Grand Turk sign, nature reserve where we got to experience sea creatures up close and personal, salt farm, and John Glenn's replica friendship capsule.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
We had a private bungalow for the day and it was amazing. We had a fruit and cheese tray waiting for us when we got there, iced beverages in the cooler, snorkel gear, floaties, towels, etc. Our view from the bungalow was right out to the ocean and we could see the ship as well. It was great to go inside and eat lunch and relax or sit out in the sun or go down to the beach. Would definitely recommend a bungalow and will do this again next time we're there.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Had a private van for the day. We went to a jewelry factory, a chocolate factory, downtown square, Pink Street, Umbrella Street, the Fort, the Puerta Plata sign, a beach, and a private tour behind the locked gate of the cable car renovations. Our tour guide Pedro was amazing as was our driver Israel.
