It was horrible. The operation of the ship made everyone on board sea sick. Will not use this ship again.

Review summary

I'm sorry but this Carnival cruise ship needs to put out to pasture. My husband and I didn't like the excuse that the entire trip on the ship there was a lot of back and forth. My husband and I were on the Royal Caribbean during the hurricane and it didn't compared to this ship. We experienced the sea sickness since the beginning of the cruise and gradually gotten worse all the way to the end. Never again Carnival Elation.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was not bad cause everyone was helpful with our luggage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
I have cruised on Carnival Sensation and that experienced was awesome. This ship was the worse in food and drinks. Drinks didn't have any alcohol and the food either had someone hair or it was not cooked with any taste.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
During the trip, the ship was rocking back and forth. Not really a lot of people came out to celebrate.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
There was not really any good entertainment compared to other Carnival ships i attended.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My son at first did not like the daycare but he warmed up to the staff. The staff was very nice and treated my son very well.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Besides everything, the cleaning and serving staff were very nice and respectful.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The areas were very cleaned and kept.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
I have purchased the balcony and it was the same size as an ocean-view room. It was not the size that was advertised.

Ship tip

i would not recommend this ship to anyone.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Did not do an excursion here.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
The excursion on land is cheaper than purchasing it from Carnival. We were able to do all the excursion for a half price and still got the experienced that we enjoyed.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
We had an amazing time on the beach but there is not a lot of excursions to do there.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
during all my Carnival Cruises, I have never seen a bunch of people that wanted off the ship including us. Usually, on other cfruises the announcer has to tell them to please disembark cause the people thoroughly enjoyed the cruise.

My friends who had cruised on Disney just the month before came on their first Carnival cruise with us this month. They said the Carnival cruise was 100x more enjoyable and one third of the price. Less crowds, better food, more to do if you're over 9 years old. We've cruised both lines as well and agree completely. Cruised many lines, but our 16 cruises on Carnival have been our favorite. This year we're trying MSC and Princess and Norwegian again because they're all free, but suspect we'll be back on Carnival several times next year.

Oops..mostly the last night as there was a storm coming in and I'm talking about, other places onboard, not cabin.

@TheSnowMan the person never said cabin. You feel motion more then just in your cabin. We loved the Elation last Febr even though yes there was alot of motion and I'm not talking about cabin, I'm talking about everywhere on the ship. We just got off the Carnival Dream and had alot of motion mistly

Walmart? Really? Keep paying those extremely high fares! I'll stick to my great Carnival cruises 24 already taken with #25 coming up in October

Where your room is on ship also plays a big roll in your "ride". Room up high and in front will feel most motion while room middeck and lower as well as mid ship to aft will feel the least motion on ship.

I totally understand where you are coming from but actually my feelings on carnival are that , it's no Disney cruise line (you've never cruised till you've gone the disney route, but as far as cheap walmart type cruises it the best bang for your buck. You get what you pay for
