A trip with 2 adults plus 10 year old and 12 year old. We have been on bigger ships so the kids were a little bored with the amenities but that's more because they are spoiled. The crew works hard. They are helpful but not as outgoing as on other ships. The Cruise Director and fun squad was a bit disappointing and was not the highlight they normally are. Overall, glad we went but other ships in this class are better.

Onboard Activities

It's a smaller ship so the activities are more limited. Overall it was fine but I have been spoiled by larger ships.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The fun squad was a let down. The supporting "squad" felt like a group of inexperienced people doing the minimum to get through this contract. The CD Jen Baxter is typically in Australia and is a short timer on this ship. In her defense she had an injury and couldn't walk well. She wasn't very engaged with the other team members and the lack of team work showed.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Usually we love interaction with crew. Our server in the dining room was fun but completely overwhelmed with the work load. We saw our steward once. Crew was acceptable but not the best we have had. No one was very outgoing but they were all helpful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The fantasy class ships we have been on are all kept up as best they can on the inside. Cleaning and polishing is always going on and for the most part, the interior of the ship looks better than her age. The external of the ship looks pretty bad. First impressions of the ship isn't great when pulling into port for embarking.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Small but functional inside cabin. The noise from the atrium party can be heard but after 11, no problems.
Ship tip
Make the best of the cruise. No one can make you have fun. It's up to you to seek it out.
It would have been 5 star but the CD Jen made her first announcement about disenbarkment as we were walking off the ship. Her lack of any announcements for directing traffic left the rest of the crew to scramble and deal with annoyed guests with no idea where to go or when.
I agree about the fun squad and the CD. Was on the Elation mid December, they weren't good at all. But luckily we don't cruise for just that. My 11 year old grandson loved the ship (his 1st cruise) because he could find his way around and check himself in and out of the kids camp.
My first cruise was on the Elation and got me hooked. I have been on the Magic since then and definitely see the difference. Glad you still enjoyed your time and didnt let those things ruin your fun!
