Review summary

I was excited to be on this cruise due to the fact that we had been on Carnival a couple times before. However, it being Christmas I just know that get would be a great experience for the entire family. We had a total of 35+ family gathering for Christmas. The first night was great, but as the days went on the experience went down hill. We was told that the Stabilizer Bar was broke before we sailed by a crew member and we notice it by the 2 night out. The 3rd, 4th, and last night everyone in our group was sick, dizzy, and vomiting. It was TERRIBLE. As we return to land we still have a few family members that are sick 4 days later. We tried to make the best of what we had to work with. We had our 2 year old grandson, and 10 month old granddaughter in our party. Neither less to say this was Not a Memorable Christmas for them. I we was going to get in the pool we was told by a crew life guard that the children could not get in the pool with swimmers on (diapers) I ask to speak with his supervisor and went to guest service to complain as well. Even though we paid full adult price for our 2 year old grandson he was not able to get in the pool. Every time as we pass the pool area which was quit often he would just be hysterical by not able to get in the pool. As the crew life guard changed, another woman with her small child wearing a diaper was able to get in the pool. I was livid. I didn't want to make a scene so I was just going to contact corporate when I returned home. That is exactly what I did. When I spoke to the rep I was told that she will seek with management and get back with me, and she did. I was told that it was nothing they could do about my grandchildren bad experience with the pool and the weather is what make the ship so rocky and not a Stabilizer Bar being broken. And that was that; so in other words Deal with IT! I have never been tried so badly and disrespect after paying several thousands of dollars to have a memorable family experience. Best Believe CARINAVL WILL NEVER EVER GET MY FAMILY MONEY AGAIN!!

Looks like you were unprepared and with no common sense.

You wanted your grandchildren to be able to go into a public pool with other people and swim while they could have urine or poop in their diapers???? That’s what the waterworks area is for. They can cool off, still enjoy the water but no one has to deal with floating feces or the possibility of getting E. coli or the norovirus! That’s a health issue that you should already have been aware of. No public pool allows kids in it that aren’t potty trained. Similarly, if people in your party are prone to getting sea sick there are many over the counter medications that would have stopped that. Instead of being prepared, you chose to blame Carnival. I don’t think cruising is for you!!

If there 2 people in the room, you don't pay full price for additional kids. Its minimal. We just had 4 in our cabin and it was less than $150 for each additional kid.

Rough seas are really a chance you take when booking a cruise and there are several options out there to counter the effects of motion sickness. What surprises me is your pool comment. Who wants to swim in a pool where someone is in it wearing a diaper? I'm out, but that's me. When I took my grandson, he was in diapers and we didn't even consider getting into the pool.

It says right in the rules for children that they need to be potty trained and no swim diaper allowed to use the pool. Its not carnivals policy it is the department of health rule for all ships. They can swim at the beach in port.

Thankfully your grandchildren are too young to remember this experience as they get older.

It is on the carnival web site that diapers nor swimmers are aloud. I just went on a cruise with my grandson and we made sure he was potty trained before our cruise. Sorry you had a bad cruise but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Elations fought. I have been on her 4 times and never had a bad cruise. The winter and hurricane months are the worst for rough seas May seems to be the best month to go to me

Sorry for your experience

Sorry you had a problem. We have been on the elation 5. Times and always had a great time. The weather definitely causes problems. No matter what ship you're on if the weather is bad you will get sick..It's always been in force that diapers are not allowed in the pool for sanitation purposes.

Definitely sounds like cruising is not for you. Cruising during the most popular week of the year is always challenging with the crowds. Any ship will have movement if the seas are rough weather the stabilizer bars are working or not. It’s always best to have something for seasickness in case it is needed.
