This was a family reunion cruise for us with 25 people in our group. There were not a lot of activities on-board but we all had a great time visiting and catching up.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining room was good - great service. Buffets were greatly lacking. Even on a day in port when some excursion started at 7:15 the buffet still did not open until 7:30. It was continental breakfast only and that did not last long with everyone that was trying to get a good breakfast before heading ashore.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There was only one pool, it was small and standing-room-only most of the time. There were very few activities except the last day of the cruise.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There was no major show. They did 3 music shows that were basically the same except with different music. Very disappointing. Beautiful piano in the piano bar but did not care for the singer.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone from our cabin steward to the wait staff were very attentive and did an excellent job!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Carnival Elation is an older smaller ship so compared to the new mega ships, it was lacking in space and the layout was not easy to navigate from one area to another without having to change decks to get around.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was on the very back of the ship on deck 6. Beautiful view but noisy being so close to the water. It made it hard to carry-on a conversation while relaxing on our balcony. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Ship tip
Do not set you expectations too high. It is an average ship with nothing spectacular about it.
The segway tour we booked gave us a little tour of the area. Of course you do not travel too far so did not get to see a great deal of the island. Enjoyed the monument honoring the NASA missions that splashed-down near there.
The walking tour was really good. Got to see a couple of churches, Independence Plaza, a cigar maker, coffee shop, the lighthouse, outside of the fort and various other interesting places. Lunch was really good but it was a hot soup on a really hot July day. The water was infused with strawberries and mint - refreshing!
We chose to "walk off" carrying our own luggage and everything ran smooth. My only complaint is the other passengers that do not listen to the announcements and block the public areas making it very difficult for those trying to exit to do so.
