Review summary

If you are not a "fun" person, don't get on a carnival cruise. This line is really more for laid back people who don't nit-pick everything to death and are easy to please. If your a stick-in-the-mud, old-at-heart, a jaded a-hole, or everything just has to be perfect for you, get on a more "refined" cruise line like NCL.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation is easy and hassle free. Parking is spacious and close to the cruise ship. Great staff and very helpful and friendly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Overall, the food and drink was great. Our family had wonderful meals on your-time dining. The lines were not too long at any point. Breakfast was fantastic, great omelettes, huevos rancheros, buffet, no complaints. The longest lines were for the soft-serve ice cream machines (one kept malfunctioning). The kids were ecstatic and very pleased and happy.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Cool water slides. Pool side activities were fun and family friendly. Deck loungers around the pool were mainly occupied, but still had plenty of seating elsewhere on the decks. There were lots of families with children, and I felt safe and had little worries in allowing my children to run free (they understood clearly that they were not to go with anyone anywhere at anytime, whether staff or guests).

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Caught a couple of comedian shows...PG friendly for the kids, and they loved it. Also caught the adult shows, which were great and got everyone involved. If you're not a fun person, Carnival may not be the line for you.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great staff and service. Always friendly...we had no complaints or gripes about anything. Everyone went out of their way to help.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was well maintained and well attained to. The staff really works hard to keep this boat clean and tidy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The beds on this boat are absolutely fantastic. One of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. I actually unzipped one of the covers to see who manufactured this mattress as I would love to buy it for my own home. Cabins were always clean and tidy, and the kids love the towel animals every day.

Ship tip

Carry your own bags off, then give a nice tip to the porter when you get into the main disembarkation/customs plaza (the porters will be waiting inside once you get into the single file customs line, which is really looonnnnnngggggg.) The porter will get you thru security in a flash and take your bags to your car, which will save you about 30-60 minutes of waiting to get through customs.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

Not a bad port...parking is $17 a day (so add this to your cost). Disembarkation is slow, as there are very few customs officials.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Great little beach...not a lot to do but swim and enjoy the water. There are a few cabanas for shopping and nice lunch buffet. Sand and water is beautiful. Lounge and relax, have a drink, play in the water. Bring a snorkeling mask, there are fishes that swim all around you. Water taxi is quick and easy.

Nassau, Bahamas

Went snorkeling on a catamaran trip...water is very wavy so snorkeling is a bit more challenging. The fish were plenty, sea turtles, garr, mantarays. Had a great time just being on the water. Did a little shopping, but original straw market has been torn down and a new one replaced it, just doesn't have the same feeling anymore. Very friendly people, enjoyable stop.

Disembarkation

Be prepared to wait.
