Review summary

This is the ONLY cruise we have had a bad experience on. Ironically, it is the only cruise where we have splurged and gotten a suite... worst decision of the whole cruise, in this case! Do NOT book a jr suite on the Elation if you want to get any sleep or if you are expecting anything other than a regular balcony room!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation went very well. Jaxport does a great job of that!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was okay, but MDR was exceedingly slow and we had a server who barely spoke to us and hardly came to our table at all! The wait was the longest we have ever had to wait for our meals.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Activities were fine for a smaller ship.

Entertainment

Didn't attend shows

Children's Programs

We had no children with us

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our steward, Nomer, was super friendly and attentive. He was a good thing about the cruise! He was the friendliest steward we have had in a few cruises.

Cabin / Stateroom

I would give NO stars if I could! Cabin was horrible. i don't know how they can call it a suite of any kind. It was a regular balcony room in the worst location on the ship. It was under the gym. Every morning at 6:30 we were awakened to sounds of banging and thumping from the gym. Supposedly, they close at 10:00 every night, but apparently the crew members use the gym after it closes. Every single night we had to call guest services multiple times just so we could get some sleep. Our sleep we constantly interrupted and cut short. We had headaches and fatigue throughout the cruise (and we don't even drink!). Why in the world they would put some of the most expensive cabins in such a horrible location is beyond me! NEVER AGAIN!

Ship tip

Do not book a JR Suite!

This is the only cruise where we have been so ready to disembark!

Did you have scheduled Dining or My Time?

When I booked our room I made sure to ask the travel agent from Carnival to find the room with the least noise and traffic. I'm sorry you had a bad time. We are going in October and are very excited.

well I look forward to being on it next Monday! haven't had any complaints on a cruise yet!

The Elation is a Fantasy Class ship that is identical to the other 7 FC ships. The noise issue was the location of the cabin rather than the Elation...

Elation is the worst. I would not ever recommend it to anyone.

We had the same problems but it wasn't the gym. If you go to the top forward you will see this large open space where people can walk around. We had people with small children running around in the wee hours of the morning.

I always review what's above me and below me before I book a room. A good travel agent or pvp would help with that.

Was that a guaranteed room or you just didn't check the deck chart before booking?

We had the option for upgrading to the G1 suite and read similar reviews with the same comments as yours an opted to just stay in our original ocean view room. Thank you for your review it really does help others make informed decisions.
