Review summary

Our group was from age 2 to 63, all had a good time. Don't expect gourmet dining , if you do I highly recommend the Chefs Table $90. Sea Day brunch (included) is also great. Do your dining in the dining rooms, the Lido deck buffet is the worst. Food, quantity, diversity and quality is D+. Guys Burgers and Blue Iguana are awesome! Pizza is too. And the Carnival Deli (by the Pizza area) was amazing as well! Beds are comfy, entertainment is fun! Ship is clean and the staff is very attentive. Plan on taking stairs more than usual as some elevators weren't in order.

Embarkation

Fast embarkation. Show up at time assigned for fastest experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

First: The main dining room dinners are disappointing compared to my last Carnival Cruise 2 yrs. ago. Thinnest prime rib I've ever seen. The sea day brunch is awesome, try the avocado toast. CHEFS TABLE: worth every penny! Lido deck buffet, yuch.

Bonsai Sushi Express

5 out of 5

Sushi was surprisingly good! Worth the extra cost in my opinion. The rolls were decent size, fresh and yummy

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the band by the Drama bar alot. Jeckyl and Hyde bar is happening late nights! Get the drink package if you plan on enjoying all the adult beverages.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
DJs, band and shows are actually great on the Elation.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone knows your name and what you like ! Nothing but A1 service from all.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean ship, layout is weird but hey, she was built in the late 90's.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Room was adequate. We originally had 3 and one cancelled last minute so the extra bunk was above my bed close to my head even when folded up. But I just pulled the bed out from the wall a bit. Warning: Do not "lay down" on the bed for a sec to rest. You wake up hours later refreshed. One of the most comfortable beds on a ship I've had. So many naps, and accidental early nights.

Ship tip

Casino is WAY TOO TIGHT! I love blackjack, first time on a ship I saw money go away that fast. However, the machines (which I seldom play) gave it back to me :)

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

Couldn't walk to the free beach, everything was closed off. Next time I'll stay on the ship.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

OK everyone. If you can swing it: DO THE PRIVATE OASIS! Wow! Everything they promised and way more :)

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth. We flew home, flight at 11:30am. Get the transfer from Carnival if you do that. If it's foggy thats too early, we got lucky. Off the ship by 8:30. Hint. When you gather in the Mikado lounge go to the left away from the stage area, you'll be off first. Unless they change things after my cruise.
