I do not plan on cruising with Carnival again. Even though I live in Jax, I'll drive to wherever there is a Celebrity or RCCL ship rather than experience another Carnival fiasco.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Due to weather, embarkation times were delayed by 4 hours. Carnival was not prepared, and did not board in order of reserved boarding times plus 4 hours. Rather everyone was forced into long serpentine lines from outside the building. It took almost 2 hours of standing and walking to get to the check-in desk, and another 15 minutes to get aboard and down to the room. The most disorganized boarding I've ever had in 12+ cruises.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Again, rather disorganized. Went from 2 entry lines the first night to only one the next night, then changed sides for entry the next night. Once seated, had to wait for 15 minutes to get waiter service for water, and another 15 minutes for the waiter to return to just take our order for dinner. (This was the Imagination Dining Room.} We just left without dinner so as not to miss the show time.
Onboard Activities

Entertainment
4 out of 5
High energy performances by the stage shows' cast. Comedy shows were the high point of the cruise.
Service and Staff

Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was always clean and tidy, thanks to the staff. The design was gaudy and tasteless, however.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was not well prepared for our arrival; no glasses, but two bottles of water for sale. The cabin was kept clean. Wish there had been a chair, bathrobes, etc.
We were on the fog delay cruise. The embarkation of the ship was a total nightmare the worst I have ever seen in all of my cruise in days!! The ship was clean but the food was awful. I’ll cruise on newer ships from this point forward
Boarding and check in times have been delayed due to fog closing the river channel and the ship not being allowed to enter until it opens. Can’t blame weather conditions = just like delays due to weather when flying🛳🛳🛳
You must of been on the cruise that got delayed because of the fog. I'm sure everything got delayed because of it including having everything ready in your cabin I am cruising on the Elation in 75 day's for the 3rd time I love this ship and have never had one problem. sounds like you had bad luck but not so much not to cruise again
We went on Elation in December 2017. We had none of the issues you listed. Our room steward and wait staff were all great. We also had no issues with embarkation and debarkation. When we arrived in Jacksonville to debark it was storming and a gentleman took us to our car and helped unload our luggage. We had a great experience.
Everyone is different, but we leave our home knowing we are going to have a great time, and that we won’t let the small things ruin our trip... the small things, like which side of the MDR entrance we stood at, and if glasses and such weren’t already when we arrive at our cabin, those things don’t register on our radar... just small details that won’t interfere with the big picture: We are going to enjoy our cruise...
Cruise on Elation in January. Was Fantastic. Great little ship. We've been on the biggest and the smallest...all were great to us... Better than a Day at Work.
