Review summary

I didn't get to embark. I purchased two fairly high prices tickets ($1,200 all in). The fees and taxes were huge (several hundred dollars). I had a last minute change of travel partner. They said they would charge me full price to remove them, then not even sell me another ticket because they had stop taking sales due to fully booked trip. Obviously there was an extra bed in my cabin because someone was pulling out. I was just trying the replace one person for another. Ridiculous,.

Ship tip

Check the policies and extra charges very carefully. They have predatory policies if you need to make any changes.

jabdnp, maybe it depends on the ports?

Hi my experience is completely different...I had booked through VacationsToGo.com and had to change. The travel counselor called Carnival and it was only $50 and it was done 7 days before departure. This occurred in December 2017.

You don't know U.S. Customs or cruise line policy......but you sure know how to use "Copy and paste"

You chose not to sail 🛳🛳🛳🛳

Unfortunately these aren’t Carnival’s rules, they’re Customs’ as far as I know.

There is a $250 fee to change names on reservations. However, you can not make changes to reservations with less than 15 days from cruise date. If you bought insurance, you should get part back.

I dont think customs will allow a last minute change like that. I know your mad at carnival but you are entering and leaving countries its not like you was at a amuesment park. Not trying to be a smart butt just saying. We had a last minute cancel once... not that last minute so we just went. The person who didnt go was the one who lost you the money. I would send them a bill.

I think, again my theory is that at a certain point they turn over passenger info to customs...idk just a theory

I agree about taking the cruise, however I know that they won't allow a change in passenger. I don't understand that at all. My daughter had an situation where her husband was not going to be able to go due to work. They were not going to work with her. This not just Carnival. The other cruise have a similar policy. They would make more money on drinks and extras. Very confusing!!

You could have still gone on the cruise. That was silly to not go ahead and cruise. You would have still had lots of fun.
